Hanni took a seat at her desk in Mr. Kang's history class and went over the sheet music of the song she was going to perform in music class. She had heard that Mr. Kim used to be the advanced music class teacher last year, before taking the position as the head physical education teacher. When Mrs. Choi was out, he'd step in as her substitute teacher. Some of the seniors in choir told her how glad they were when they found out Mr. Kim would be switching subjects due to how strict he was. It scared her a bit, but she knew she would be fine. She had to thank her mom for putting her in piano classes even though she hated it.

"Perfect, another substitute teacher today. Looks like today will be an easy period!" Minji sat down next to Hanni.

"I know, this'll be my second substitute for the week with Mrs. Choi being out." Hanni set the sheet music down. "At least in this class, we get to sit and talk. Mr. Kim has us performing a piano piece since Mrs. Choi is out."

"Ah, Mr. Kim... you just have to be on his good side or else he'll make you run an extra mile in P.E." Minji laughed. "He's mean, but I heard he was a great music teacher."

"He still scares me, though." Hanni said.

Once the bell rang, the substitute teacher introduced themselves and then let the class go on as they pleased.

"I have something to tell you." The two girls said in unison and laughed.

"Okay, you go first!" Minji said.

"Alright... well, I finally had a decent conversation with my mom last night. It wasn't weird and she didn't end up annoying me like she usually did... it was just a nice convo." Hanni smiled.

"Wow, ever since we met, there's been many times that you'd text me about how your mom ruined your mood. That's good to hear that you guys had a nice talk."

"Yeah, it's been a while since we've talked normally."

"So what did you two talk about that's so important?" Minji rested her chin on the palm of her hand.

"We talked about... Jay." Hanni felt her heart skip a beat as she mentioned his name.

"Ooo, I love conversations about you and Jay!" Minji rubbed her hands together.

"You know how this whole arranged marriage was to help Jay change because his parents were so worried about him being so serious?" Hanni whispered.

"Mm-hm." Minji nodded.

"I learned that Jay has been spending more time with his mom like they used to. They've been cooking together, he'll drive her to the store now that he's licensed... my mom even told me she's been listening to Jay's guitar playing more now while his dad is at work."

"Does that mean... he's not that serious person anymore that they were so worried about?"

Hanni shrugged.

"Seems like it?"

"Park Jongseong is changing before our very eyes and it's all because of a certain little lady!" Minji nudged Hanni's arm. "That's great news!"

"I'm happy things are looking up for him." Hanni smiled.

"What about his dad? How's everything with the two of them?"

"I'm not too sure... my mom didn't say anything about his dad, so maybe there's still a little tension between them."

"Boo... hopefully everything gets better with them soon. That means you gotta spend more time with Jay so that his relationship with his dad gets better." Minji joked.

"I wouldn't mind doing that." Hanni laughed. "Enough about me! What were you gonna tell me?"

Minji couldn't believe what she was going to tell Hanni. It still blew her mind that she had this conversation at all, but she knew Hanni would love hearing what she was about to tell her. Hanni was the reason this all started in the first place, but now things were becoming a little... weird.
