THE RISE OF THE ASHFORDS
The Ashford and Aldridge family's power in the mafia world didn't start with Elisabeth "Lisa" Aldridge and Jackie "Jack" Ashford, but they made it stronger.
Both grew up in families already involved in the underworld, where control and fear were the keys to survival.
By the time they were adults, Lisa and Jack had each built their empires.
Lisa, born in March 1900, was known for her sharp mind and quiet strength. She didn't need to raise her voice to be respected.
She ran her territories with careful planning, always staying one step ahead. Her empire grew under her steady hand, and people learned to fear her intelligence more than her fists.
Jack, born in September 1900, was different. He was quick to act and known for his skill in combat.
Where Lisa relied on strategy, Jack used his physical strength to control his turf. He didn't hesitate when making decisions, which earned him respect and fear alike.
Before they were partners, they were rivals. Their empires clashed often, with both fighting for more power.
Jack made the first move to take over Lisa's turf, which only intensified the tension between them. But over time, that tension turned into respect.
By 1928, they realized they could achieve more together than apart. They chose to unite, not just in business, but in marriage.
Their wedding brought together two powerful forces in England's underworld. Even though they still ran their territories, their marriage symbolized their firm alliance.
And so, by 1930, the Ashford name was cemented as one of the most powerful in the history of the mafia, with Lisa and Jack leading the way as a joint power, respected and feared by all.
