CHAPTER 8
°• The Masterpiece Returns •°
|| 30th September, 8:30 am ||
The morning sun filtered through the museum's grand windows, casting soft beams of light over the marble floor. The stolen painting, now safely returned, hung proudly in its rightful place-a masterpiece in every sense. The brushstrokes, vivid and raw, seemed to glow as if the canvas itself had been waiting for this moment. Taehyung stood before it, hands tucked into his pockets, his gaze soft and thoughtful. For a moment, he was lost in time, the colors and textures of the painting reflecting something deeper inside him.
Namjoon walked up behind him, his steps quiet as he took in Taehyung's stillness. "You okay?" he asked, voice low.
Taehyung blinked, pulling himself from his thoughts. "Yeah. It's just... this painting," he gestured toward it, his voice faltering slightly, "it was my grandmother's favorite. She used to tell me stories about the artist-how every brushstroke was like a heartbeat, a moment of their soul on the canvas."
Namjoon's brow furrowed with a gentle understanding. "I didn't know that. It's more than just a case for you, isn't it?"
Taehyung nodded, his eyes never leaving the painting. "Yeah. This was personal."
Namjoon placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. "You did good, Tae. We wouldn't have solved this without you."
The rest of the team gathered behind them, drawn by the quiet reverence in the room. Jimin sidled up next to Taehyung, peering at the painting with wide eyes. "So, this is the one we nearly destroyed by accident during that rooftop chase, huh?"
Taehyung shot him a look, though there was a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. "Don't remind me."
Jin clapped his hands together, breaking the serious mood with his usual bright energy. "Well, good thing it's all in one piece, or else we'd all be banned from museums for life!"
Jungkook laughed from the back, leaning against a nearby pillar. "Especially you, hyung. I'm pretty sure the museum security still has your picture up from that time you tripped and nearly took out a statue."
Jin gasped dramatically, pointing at Jungkook. "That was an accident, and you know it! Besides, I wasn't the one who tried to hack into the security system and almost set off every alarm in the building."
"That was totally on purpose!" Jungkook shot back with a grin. "You know, to test their security measures. I was being thorough."
Hoseok snickered, crossing his arms. "Yeah, sure. And my impeccable driving was just me 'testing' the speed limits."
"You didn't just test them," Yoongi drawled from the side, his usual calm voice laced with sarcasm. "You shattered them. I'm still amazed we didn't get pulled over."
