Namjoon sat at a small, sunlit table in the corner of a cozy café, the scent of freshly brewed coffee mingling with the soft chatter of patrons. His fingers traced the edges of the novel he was reading, his brow furrowed slightly in concentration as the words on the page pulled him deeper into a world of fiction. The quiet solitude was a rare luxury for him, a moment of peace amid the whirlwind of mysteries and crimes his life had become.

A half-empty cup of coffee sat beside him, the faint steam curling into the air like tendrils of a forgotten memory. The world outside the café seemed distant — just the hum of a city going about its day, unaware of the tension simmering beneath the surface.

Just as Namjoon was about to turn the page, his phone buzzed softly on the table, breaking the calm. He glanced at the screen, expecting a mundane message, but the name flashing on the caller ID sent a ripple of alertness through him: Detective Kim from the precinct.

He answered quickly, his calm voice betraying none of the sudden curiosity sparking in his mind. "Namjoon speaking."

"Detective Kim here. I hope you’re sitting down for this one," the voice on the other end crackled slightly, a hint of tension in his tone. "We’ve got a big one. The Choi ruby, from Mr. Choi’s private collection, has been stolen."

Namjoon blinked, straightening in his chair as his mind immediately began running through possibilities. "The Choi ruby? Isn’t that the one that’s supposed to be cursed?"

"The very same," the detective confirmed, a grim edge to his voice. "And it gets weirder. Rumor has it that every previous owner of the gem met a mysterious fate. Mr. Choi’s in a state of panic, and frankly, the whole thing smells strange. Thought I’d let you know before this turns into something bigger."

Namjoon’s fingers tapped lightly on the novel as his mind raced. Theft, curses, and mysterious fates — this case was already shaping up to be a puzzle worthy of his attention. "Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll be there soon."

Ending the call, Namjoon’s serene afternoon vanished like smoke. He swiftly dialed the boys, his fingers moving with practiced precision, knowing they’d want to hear about this — especially if the rumors of a curse were involved.

---

Namjoon leaned back in his chair, sipping the last of his coffee as he waited for the team to arrive. One by one, they trickled in, each with their own flair.

Jungkook was first, his usual energy barely contained as he slid into the seat across from Namjoon. "What’s up, hyung? You look like you’ve found a new puzzle."

Namjoon gave a small, knowing smile. "You could say that. We’ve got a case — a big one."

Jungkook’s eyes lit up, excitement brimming. "A case? I’m in. What’s the deal?"
