"Why must this pain happen?! What does that horrid woman have that I don't?!" Juvia screamed, her eyes filled with fury as she targeted Morana. "Water Slicer!" Pressurized blades of water shot toward Morana, who barely managed to dodge them.
"Morana, get out of here! I'll handle her!" Gray shouted, trying to pull Morana behind him.
"Like hell, I will! This bitch needs to be put in her place!" Morana hissed, glaring at Juvia. "Oi! Water pest! You want me dead? Get in line!"
"Morana!" Gray called out as he watched her charge straight at Juvia. Prepared, Juvia unleashed a torrent of boiling water. Morana thrust her hands into the scalding liquid, shocking both Gray and Juvia with her resistance to the heat.
"Tch, this isn't even hot," she muttered before freezing the water and sending Juvia flying back.
"How?! How did you manage to overpower Juvia's jealousy?" Juvia gasped as she recovered, quickly launching another wave of water slicers. Morana dodged with ease, rejoining Gray's side.
"You're up against an Ice Dragon, and you're a lot dumber than I thought," Morana grumbled, her voice dripping with annoyance before a smirk crept onto her face.
Gray, quick to realize what Morana was planning, grabbed her arm. "Morana! Don't push yourself! You need to conserve your energy."
"Damn it, Gray! She's a pest! I know what I'm doing," Morana shot back, glaring at him with an icy intensity that would terrify most people. But Gray remained unfazed by her cold stare.
"You need to save your energy for Lucy," Gray said firmly. His words gave Morana pause, and she glanced back at Juvia, who was preparing for another attack.
"Fine... Let's finish this with a unison raid," Morana muttered, ripping her arm from Gray's grasp. He chuckled at her irritation.
"Now you're talking," Gray smirked, grabbing her hand. The sudden gesture took Morana by surprise, a brief flash of violent thoughts crossing her mind. Yet, Gray didn't seem concerned or even aware of the risk he was taking by holding her hand. His attention was focused on Juvia, who stood frozen, her eyes locked on the sight of their interlocked hands.
"How dare you..." Juvia's face darkened with fury. "To hold Juvia's prince's hand before me."
"Tch... All water mages are looney bins. Let's do this," Morana muttered, refocusing her energy on her Ice Dragon magic as she combined it with Gray's ice magic.
"She is one crazy chick," Gray chuckled, concentrating on merging his magic with Morana's. He felt his ice magic being drawn into her, and for a split second, the thought of her Chaos Slayer magic flickered through his mind.
"Prima-Frost Frenzy!" they shouted in unison. As the two mages raised their intertwined hands, a towering geyser of ice erupted toward Juvia, catching her completely off guard. The ice didn't stay still; it morphed into a massive, raging ice dragon that loomed over Juvia, sweeping her into its icy jaws and swallowing her whole in seconds. The sheer force of the attack left Juvia incapacitated, unable to get back up.
With Juvia down, Morana ripped her hand away from Gray's. "Never grab my hand again," she snapped, glaring at him.
"Sure thing," Gray laughed, unfazed by her glare. He knew they had just pulled off a unison raid—an incredibly powerful ability that only a select few could achieve. It was said that only those who truly knew and trusted each other could perform unison raids with ease, and that alone told Gray that Morana trusted him more than she let on.
"You should go find Lucy. And try not to do anything too crazy," Gray said, nudging Morana, who nodded before turning to leave.
"Wait! Here, take this!" Gray called out, tossing her an ice shard. "Eat it on your way to find Lucy."
