As the massive doors of the Fairy Tail guild swung open, a hush fell over the room, and all eyes turned expectantly towards the entrance. However, a sense of disappointment rippled through the crowd as only two mages made their way inside. It wasn't who they were hoping for.
"Oh my, it's so sad," Aspen muttered softly as she clung to her boyfriend's arm as they entered Fairy Tail's newly finished guildhall. The woman with luscious brown curls was adorned in a light blue flowery scrunch dress paired with elegant silver heels. Her eyes, a mesmerizing blend of two colors, searched the room for a specific mage. Meanwhile, her boyfriend, clad in a sleek black turtleneck sweater, tailored slacks, and polished dress shoes, remained vigilant as he surveyed the typically boisterous guild hall, which was uncharacteristically hushed despite the recent renovations.
"I know, my dear." Kai sighed as he looked around the guild, where he was flagged down by Lucy Heartfilia.
"Kai! Aspen! Over here!" Lucy called out to the two.
"Oh! Sunshine!" Aspen gasped as she rushed over to the celestial mage, pulling her boyfriend behind her.
"I'm so glad you could make it." Lucy greets the baker with a sad smile as the two embrace.
"Thank you for inviting me. When I heard what happened, I was so scared that Morana would be harmed again." Aspen whimpers as Kai grasps her shoulders, comforting her.
"I'm surprised that the guild isn't celebrating the new renovations," Kai adds as he pulls back a seat for his girlfriend at the table where Gray, Laki, Levy, and Happy are sitting with Lucy.
"How can we? Morana is facing the Magic Council and we can't do anything?" Gray grumbled.
"The guild all agreed to celebrate once Master Makarov and Erza return." Levy sighs, the bookworm was still dressed in bandages as was Lucy who sat down next to her.
"Yeah, except we have to deal with a raging dragon," Laki said, her eyes widening as she glanced back at Natsu. He was bound and restrained by Macaco, Wakaba, Elfman, Max, and Warren, along with several other guild members. The fire dragon was thrashing about, burning anything around him to get free. Everyone knew that Natsu was desperate to save Morana from the clutches of the Magic Council, just as he had attempted to do with Erza.
Kai instinctively pulled Aspen closer to him, "He doesn't have a brain, does he?"
"No, he doesn't." Gray agrees.
"It's sweet, though," Aspen pointed out. "He wants to help Morana."
"He does, but this isn't the way to do it. Morana gave herself up willing to the Magic Council." Lucy stared at the table as her hands rested on her lap.
"Aye, no one is happy about it." Happy adds.
"With the master gone, the entire guild is on edge," Laki explains as she takes a drink from her mug.
"Is there any hope that Morana will walk free?" Aspen dared to ask as Kai held her hand tightly, knowing how fragile she could be when bad news hit.
"We don't know," Laki answered.
"All we know about Morana is that she was an assassin and has done a lot of horrific things," Levy adds.
Lucy slammed her hands on the table, "She's not a bad person!"
Silence filled the guildhall as heads turned towards her. "She's a good person who has been through a lot of bad things. The Magic Council has to see that! She didn't want to do any of those things."
