Morana sat huddled in a dimly lit stone cell, the air heavy with the scent of damp earth and ancient magic. The walls were inscribed with intricate anti-magic runes, their faint glow casting an eerie light on her surroundings. The cuffs encircling her wrists, designed to nullify any trace of magic, dug into her skin with each movement, a constant reminder of her captivity. As she leaned against the unforgiving wall, she couldn't shake the painful memories of her childhood spent in the dark, cavernous depths, the taste of bile rising in her mouth.

Metal banging echoed out as a familiar scent filled Morana's nose. "I would never have thought you would hand yourself over like that." A female voice spoke.

"I like to keep people on their toes." Morana shifted slightly as she sat up.

"You always did like terrifying people with how unpredictable you are." The woman said.

"That's just the cold-hearted beauty of being Black Ice, Ultear." Morana sighed as she opened her eyes to look at a member of the magic council. Ultear stood before her in her white robes and a slight smile upon her red lips.

"So it seems," She muses. "You know, word has gone out that Black Ice has turned her back to the dark and turned to the light."

"And those rumors are true."

"For good? Or for ploy?"

"For good," Morana growls.

"The Band of the Emperor can't help but be skeptical." Ultear pulled a sleeve to cover her mouth as she stared down at Morana intently.

"And I can't help but not care."

"Oh? And if I were to inform them that their precious little dragon is now working for the light guild, Fairy Tail, what would you do?" She probed Morana, searching for any weaknesses within the changed woman.

Morana smirked as she looked at Ultear with challenging eyes. "Bring it,"

Ultear stepped back in shock upon hearing Morana's words. "What about Drayce? And Caroline?"

"When I face them, I won't be doing it alone," Morana stated as she held her expression with the woman before her.

"You really are going through with this," Ultear's hand fell to her side. "You used to be terrified of them."

"And I still am, but I'm not doing this alone. What do I have to fear?" Morana asked Ultear. "You watched what happened on Galuna Island. You know what happened with the Eisenwald Guild and with Phantom Lord. After everything that happened, Fairy Tail accepted me for who I am, and I will protect that."

Ultear could only smile as she stared at the ice dragon. For as long as she has known Morana, this girl used to be timid and scared, hidden behind a cold expression. Yet, now? There was a fire burning in her, and no one would stand in her way.

With a sigh, Ultear moved closer to her and knelt down. "They shouldn't have tightened these things so tightly." She took off the cuffs as Morana watched her, confused and alarmed.

"They like to take precautions,"

"Yes, but you are no threat." Ultear smiled kindly at Morana's wide eyes.

After a moment, Morana regained her senses from shock, "How is that kid you picked up several years ago?"

"Who? Meredy? She is doing good; she's just like you." Ultear spoke softly as she stood up.

"Ultear," Morana stated as she rubs her wrists. "Don't chain her like I was."

The council member turned to leave before glancing back at Morana, "I won't."
