Chapter 25

*Brooke's pov*
The next morning I woke up, got ready, and went straight to Sodapop's house.
When I got there I walked inside to see Two-Bit and Steve in the kitchen with Pony.
"Hey Brooke!" Ponyboy said as he ran to hug me.
"Hey Pony, how are you?"
"I've been better."
I smiled at him and hugged him again.
"Where's Sodapop?"
"Oh he's in the shower."
Pony walked back into the kitchen to finish making breakfast.
"How ya been Brooke?" Two-Bit asked as he pulled a beer out of the fridge.
"I'm fine, a lot better now."
Steve was eating chocolate cake while Darry picked him up and got on to him for calling him "super dope" again.
"Hey Darry have ya seen my DX shirt?" Soda asked as he stepped out of the bathroom in a towel.
"You know you have to wear pants to work, it's like a law or something." Steve said laughing with chocolate cake in his mouth.
"Hey Brooke." Soda said walking past me kissing me on the cheek.
I sat down on the couch watching everyone run around, it was amazing how well these guys functioned. They were one big family.
Darry was talking to Pony about how he thinks he should stay home with him.
"Darry I'll stay with Pony, I don't have to go anywhere today."
"Thanks Brooke."
"Yeah I will to." Two-Bit said walking over then making some joke about babysitting and then him and Pony wrestled.
Soda came back out with his shirt in his hand and a pair of jeans on. He plopped down on the couch, I sat in his lap as he put his DX hat on.
"Hey Two-Bit mickeys on tv." He laughed.
Two-Bit walked to the TV mesmerized while drinking his beer.
I wrapped my arm around Soda.
"Sure you don't want me to drive you to work?"
"No it's ok, Steve already said he would."
"Ok, I love you."
"I love you two." we kissed and I hugged him real tight.
"I gotta go Brooke." he laughed.
"You don't have shoes on stupid."
"Oh yeah I'm gonna need those!" He ran back to his room and grabbed them.
"Bye Pony! Bye Brooke," he kissed me, "love you."
"Love you to!" I said loudly as he walked out the door with his shoes in his hand.
I walked over to Pony as Two-Bit was sitting on the ground eating chocolate cake.
"What do you want to do today Pony?"
"I wanna go see Johnny and Dally, can you drive me?" He asked as he was cleaning up breakfast.
"Yeah I'll drive you, Two-Bit you coming?"
"Yeah, I gotta babysit this runt anyways." Two-Bit said laughing.
"I'm gonna go get in the car so yall hurry up."
I said walking out the front door.
I unlocked my car sat down in the drivers seat.
I sat and thought how great it was to have Pony and Johnny back. My two little brothers, alive. I leaned my head back thinking and hoping that Johnny would be ok. I clasped my hands together, bowed my head and began to pray for Johnnycakes.
