A week later:

Jude's pov:

Staring at my food I poke holes into my mashed potatoes with my fork. I've been sitting here for the past 15 minutes or so, neither eating much of my dinner nor engaging in any conversations with my teammates.

We won our game against Greece yesterday which should make me happy, but here I am brooding away, thinking about the same person that has taken over my thoughts for the past week. Amari. Since I saw her at our last home game in Madrid I haven't been able to get her out of my head.

At this point I've come to the conclusion that I still have feelings for her. No surprise, I know. I just hate to admit it, I guess. And the worst part is that I can ask no one about advice without revealing everything concerning Valentina and our PR stunt.

"You good, mate? You've barely touched your food", Trent says suddenly, ripping me out of my thoughts.
"If you don't want to eat your mashed potatoes I'm happy to take them off your plate", Declan cuts in from the opposite of our table.

"Sure, Dec, you can have them. I'm not hungry anyway", I shrug, ignoring Trent's concern, before I push my plate over to Declan.
"Thanks", he returns with an eager smile and scrapes the mashed potatoes onto his plate.

I still feel Trent staring at me but I choose to ignore him and lean back in my seat while taking a sip from my water. Thankfully my friend doesn't question me more and instead just continues to eat his own food.

About 20 minutes later most of my teammates are done with their dinner and begin to leave the room in different groups. Both Declan and Trent are finished as well which means we can leave any second as well, hopefully. I'm in no mood for social interactions and would much rather just retreat to my room for tonight.

"I'm gonna meet with Kayo, Ebs, Rico and Ollie in the players lounge and play some UNO, you want come with?", Trent asks me as we leave the dining room.
"I'm good", I answer flatly.
"Ay, come on, it'll be fun. Rico even promised he wouldn't cheat this time", he says trying to convince me.

"Seriously, I don't want to. Not tonight. I told Jobe I'd call him after dinner", I lie. I called my brother after breakfast this morning already. But I need some believable lie for Trent to let go of it.

"Alright, fine. Tell Jobe I said hi then. I'll stop by later before I head to bed in case you want to talk", Trent says before walking off into the direction of the players lounge.
"Don't bother", I mumble, hoping he doesn't hear it. Since he doesn't look back or something I just assume he didn't and walk towards the elevator so I can head to my room.

As soon as I'm in my room I grab my Ipad and settle down on the bed. After getting comfortable I pull one of the old movies I've already seen hundreds of times up on the screen and press play.

About an hour later:

I'm pretty much halfway through my movie when I hear a knock on my door. With a groan I press pause and slowly get up from my bed. A few seconds later it knocks again.

"I'm coming", I half-yell as I move to the door.
Opening it I find Trent on the other side. Letting out another annoyed sigh I walk back towards my bed while leaving the door open for him. Knowing I won't get rid of him I don't even try and just let Trent follow me.

"Thanks for the warm welcome", he says sarcastically as he walks behind me closing the door.
"Why are you here?"
"I told you I'll come by before going to bed", he shrugs, "I first thought about actually leaving you alone tonight. But then I texted Jobe to see if you seemed fine when he talked to you. But your brother told me that he hasn't spoken to you since this morning. So I know you lied, which gave me a good enough reason to come up here."
