Shrike and Beebs are spending their evening on deck. One was driving the ship, more or less and the other figuring out on how to fix the ship on a low budget while listening to the news. That poor ship is very close to fall apart all on its own.
But this wasn't Bulldogs biggest worry.
After the Agari incident Scritch left him a little note that said: beware the bucket ghost. This didn't let him go, "Shrike?"
"Si?"
"Are there any ghosts on this ship?"
"Whaaa?" Shriek looked over his shoulders with his mouth wide open.
"I am just wondering you know...could this be possible?"
The squid boy sighted frustrated before replying, "What did Scratch tell you?" Beebs raised a brow at his question. His partner took this as a yes, "Relax it is just a myth....a myth that lowered the price of my baby."
"So there is a reason that the bucket was this cheap?" Bulldog moved down a little on his chair while looking scared in every direction. A single noise from the ship made him jump.
"Relax Beebs this means nothing. Scratch probably did this to get me to chicken out."
"I dont feel good about this."
"There is no ghost!" snapped Shrike. Despite his annoyed look, inside he was scared himself. He checked his watch and noticed the date. The squid boy shuddered slightly.
"What is it?" asked Bulldog noticing his friend got all quiet. Shrike tried, really hard, to hide his fear. Unfortunately his voice was breaking, "Me? Nooothing...why...eh...should there be something? Don't you remember? No regrets. Right?"
Bulldog grinned slightly, "The last time you said that we had to save Scratch."
"Dont remind me!" Shrike slapped himself for this. My one true regret, he thought.
But despite this incident the date didn't change and the story still remained. Bulldog demanded to hear what this ghost thing is all about. Shrike had no choice but to explain. Although he hardly listened to the words the black cat said, so he remembered only a few things, "it was something about a mercenary that had to secure the cargo and got sucked out into space. Apparently the door opened on their own...like a ghost made that happen. This happened today and every year the doors open without any reason whenever someone is checking the cargo.
"Cant we just skip it today?" asked Beebs concerned, knowing that they had two jobs that require several checkups on the cargo as they are very valuable to the customer.
Shrike laughed it off, but the insecurity he couldn't cover with it, "Just another malfunction that needs to be fixed. I am sure that they are no ghosts on this ship."
Nothing he said could change Beebs mind. He was terrified.
The minute Shrike wanted to leave the deck his friend grabbed on to this chair, "where are you going?!"
"I warm up some pizza"
"Don't leave me her alone" said Beebs quietly.
"For the last time, there is no ghost on my baby!"With that the elevator was shut. Shrike was furious at Scratch that he told Beebs. He knew how sensitive this big boy can be and probably what that his plan all along. While getting the pizza ready Shrike had millions of thoughts on how to kill that cat if they ever cross paths again. But the minute he left his food out of sight, it disappeared.
"Huh?!" the squid boy looked everywhere...it was gone.
Meanwhile Beebs held his guitar tightly against his chest. Not to play but to defend himself if needed. His eyes wandered around, begging to no one to not harm him. Out of the blue something feels on to Bulldogs control panel making him scream loudly.
