Walking through an unfamiliar city with nothing remotely familiar was not what Kinich wanted to be doing. The roads were even and paved with buildings that reached to the skies. With a growl of irritation, he covered his face with his hands. Just earlier that day, he was at the Children of the Echos doing a favor for Mualani and Kachina.

Ever since Kachina returned from the Night Warden Wars, the small girl had been handed more and more responsibilities. So much so that she hasn't been able to have a break. What stemmed from this was an angry Mualani who was determined to drag her the People of the Springs for a well deserved weekend off. The younger girl was hesitant at first but when Kinich joined forces with Mualani, Kachina caved.

"I'm sorry..," Kachina's head was down and her ears flopped as she stared at her feet, "I couldn't just say no..." She was on the verge of crying due to guilt, "It's my fault..," she lifted her head to face Kinich who held up his hand in front of Kachina's face to stop her from apologizing more. "It's alright, Kachina, I can handle this much"

"It'll be fine, Kachina," Mualani hugged her from behind, "Just trust Kinich, he'll beat those saurian-smuggling fatui easily!" Kachina perked up at the thought of their friend's skills. Suddenly in a flurry of pixels, Ajaw materialized on the top of Kachina's head, "FOOLISH MORTAL. You dare doubt the skills of the vessel of the Great K'uhul AJAW? Your lack of faith is just stupid," his rant made the two girls laugh as Kinich sighed and grabbed Ajaw.

"KINIIIIICH, LET ME GO. I HAVEN'T FINISHED TALKING," the little pixelated avatar's face turned red in anger as Kinich let him go. "Even though I'm flattered  that you tolerate  me better now, I can't let you bully Kachina."  Letting out a pout of stubborness and almost as if he was taking revenge, Ajaw landed on Kinich's head this time and started to mess with his hair. Ignoring the saurian's attempts to annoy him, Kinich turned to Kachina, "Do you feel better now?"

"Yes, thank you," she smiled at him and turned to Mualani, "I'm ready to leave now." The older girl smiled brightly as she summoned her shark and Kinich turned to head over to the commission zone. The duo said their goodbyes as Kinich waved back, he grabbed Ajaw out of his hair and spoke to the saurian, "Alright, let's start."

An hour later, Kinich was holding three saurian whelps as Ajaw was devouring the souls of the fatui in the background. Holding them close to his chest, he shielded them from the bodies of their mothers, "Ajaw, take care of the bodies."

"Who do you think you are to ask me to do such a trivial task? For I am the Great K-"

"Ajaw. please..."

They stared at each other for a long moment before Ajaw broke the eye contact and sighed

"...alright," the pixelated dragon turned into a half human form. His skin was much darker than Kinich's and wore an outfit that was identical to his except he had his signature glasses and a hood covering a mop of blond hair with dark green highlights. However, the biggest difference were the draconic features, he had prominent fangs, with large orange horns that protruded from his head and a heavily armored black tail with a small green flame at the tip. Ajaw walked over to give each of the small whelps a small head pat and reached Kinich to comfortingly rub the small of his back

Kinich looked up to Ajaw and sighed as he looked back to the big wet eyes of the saurians looking up at his face, "Did they imprint on me?" "What?" the ancient dragon wasn't sure he heard his contractor correctly

"Did they imprint on me?"

"Uhmmm..." Ajaw turned his face away from Kinich and he saw a small blush creep onto his neck

"Ajaw."

At his call, the dragon flinched and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Ajaw, tell me. Did they imprint on me as their mother?"

Ajaw sighed in defeat and turned to face Kinich, "Yes, they did," seeing Kinich's blank face, he reached up to his cheek and pinched it, "don't worry about it too much, I, the Great K'uhul Ajaw, help you," he flashed the stunned boy a grin and finally turned to deal with the bodies of the saurian mothers.

"Awooo?" The baby Yumkasaur tilted its head in confusion at Kinich's face, while the baby Koholasaur and Tepetlisaur rubbed their faces into his chest in comfort, causing Kinich to hug them back.

Meanwhile, Ajaw had just finished burning the mothers and returned to the small group. While he was handling the bodies, he found a strange artifact on the Koholasaur mother, "HEY, Kinich! I found this weird thing, but it smells like the Abyss"

The latter reached one of his arms out to take the artifact from Ajaw, but as soon as the item touched his hand, a flash of dark purple filled their vision. The saurian babies cried out at the bright light and the last thing Kinich saw was Ajaw reaching for his hand as he called his name.

He woke up to the worried looks and warbles on each of the whelp's faces, he stared at them and released a huff of laughter. Lifting his head revealed a dark gray street and surrounding buildings that reached the skies. Sitting up he reached to rub his head but froze. Kinich's hand landed on something on the top of his head, something hard but smooth, something that sent the sensation of being touched throughout his nerves. Kinich felt horns.
