Emilia stormed into her father's study, demanding answers.
"Dad, what do you know about the Laurent family massacre?" she asked, her voice firm.
James Thompson's expression turned cold. "Where did you hear that?"
"From Julian Laurent," Emilia replied, her eyes locked on his.
James Thompson's face darkened. "He's using you, Emilia. Don't believe him."
Emilia's anger boiled over. "I saw the newspaper clipping. I know what you're capable of."
James Thompson's voice dropped to a menacing tone. "You don't understand the world I operate in, Emilia. Sometimes difficult decisions must be made."
Emilia felt a chill run down her spine. "Did you order the hit on Julian's family?"
James Thompson's silence was deafening.
Emilia's world crumbled. "You did, didn't you?"
Suddenly, a noise came from the hallway. Emilia's mother, Catherine, stood in the doorway.
"Emilia, darling, what's going on?" Catherine asked, concern etched on her face.
Emilia's eyes locked onto her mother's. "Did you know, Mom? Did you know what Dad did?"
Catherine's expression faltered, and Emilia saw the truth.
"Get out, Emilia," James Thompson growled. "Now."
Emilia turned and ran, tears streaming down her face.
