"I forgot to introduce myself didn't I... My name is Serial Designation N or just N," N said happily with a smile which the small drone mimicked.
__________________________Through out the long day hours of Copper-9 N spent getting to know the small drone, although they don't speak. "So what do you wanna do E?" N asked even though they wouldn't answer. E just stared at him silently causing N to become slightly anxious.
"How about coloring I love coloring especially dogs!" N said excitedly. By now the small drone has grown accustomed to N's presence and loud noises of excitement. E simply tilted their head.
"You don't know what coloring is? Well okay I'll teach you!" N said smiling happily at the small drone who perked up at the word teach. N looked around for any type of way he could teach E to color. He already had paper due to the sticky note as well as a few papers he found scattered eon the floor of the drop pod.
With N's back turned to them E looked around as well mimicking the larger drone's movements. A bit of light caught their eye lights. E looked over to the door of the drop pod, glimpses of sunlight snuck in slightly through the cracks. E slowly crawled over with cautious curiosity. Their tail wagging behind them similar to a cat whose attention was focused on a laser pointer.
Just as they were about to pounce at the light N quickly grabbed them. "No little buddy that's dangerous," N said as he held them close. E looked up at him with confusion as they tilted their head. N wasn't sure how to tell them that sunlight could hurt them. Until he had an idea.
N thought back to the times when V would hiss at J to convey her message when she was out of swear words to use. N pointed at the sunlight breaching the drop pod. When E had turned their attention towards the light N hissed loudly enough for them to hear but not loud enough to spook them.
E had jumped slightly and looked up at N. Seeing that his focus was on the light E focused on the light. Their eye lights narrowing in suspicion as they hissed. They then turned and hid their face in N's coat as if the light would reach out and attack them. N looked down eye lights hollow until he realized what was happening.
"Awww it's okay little buddy. As long as we stay away from it we should be fine," N said as he rubbed the smaller drone's back in a comforting manner. E looked up at him and then at the sunlight. They simply stayed close to N for the rest of the day.
Eventually N had found a marker to use. He grabbed a piece of paper that was scattered around. N drew a smiley face before giving the marker to E. E looked at the marker curiously before pushing it down on the paper harshly making a splat. "Now little buddy you have to be more gentle than that," N said gently. He grabbed the top of the marker as E held the bottom half he then guided their hand. The movement was now more relaxed and smooth.
In the end E had drawn a smiley face. E made a chirp like sound in happiness. N smiled as well "good job E!" E made a chirp like sound again happy that they did an excellent job. They continued to learn how to draw and N was happy to finally have someone who was interested in learning in a none violent manner.
Once the sun had set N had gotten up to walk out yet a small hand held him back. E held his hand as their eye lights were hollow. E then hissed at the moonlight that trickled in from the door's cracks. N shook his head. N reached out a hand into the moon more forgiving gaze. E curious reached out a hand as well. They looked at N with confusion.
N in turn pointed to the light and mimicked E's chirp from earlier while wagging his tail. E seemed to get the message as they chirped as well. N walked to the door but the small hand from before was missing. N looked back and noticed E looking for something. "What are you looking for little buddy?" N asked. E didn't respond.
E then chirped loudly it seemed like they found what they were looking for a small blanket that was blue in color with tiny white dots. E held the blanket close and snuggled with it slightly before walking back to N. "Awww you have a cloth thing how adorable," N said his tail wagging slightly at the small drone's cute actions.
E then grabbed N's hand again this time with a smile. N nearly melted at the sight. N then led them outside of their crashed vessel. E looked up at the night sky with awe. Seeing the twinkling stars made their eyes brighten with excitement. Their tail wagged as they stepped out onto the snow. They jumped back onto the metal sheet that led into the drop pod.
E looked at the snow curiously. E looked back at N who was watching them with a smile. Seeing no negative response E jumped onto the snow. Seeing there was no pain nor negative response by N they jumped around in the snow. Similar to how a child may jump into rain puddles. Seeing the snow dance around them, they continued playing in the snow.
E turned around to see N missing. They chirped in confusion and panic. They looked around confused. E looked frantically around for N. Soon they felt large metallic hands grabbing them and carry them through the air. Their terror soon turned to joy as N twirled them through the air. "Sneak attack!" N shouted as he twirled the small drone. His smile widened hearing her laughter.
For some reason this looked familiar to him. The slight vision of a young girl flooded his mind before he summed it up to his imagination. N had used a technique he used before while out hunting. He had burrowed underneath the snow making sure every piece of him was covered. Then he slowly moved towards E before surprising them.
The two were now a fit of giggles. However, the fun was cut short when E appeared to start getting tired. N smiled at them before picking them up. E held their blanket tightly. N had an idea.
A few minutes later N had the blanket tied around his torso with the small drone inside of it. The small drone was snuggled up to his chest almost asleep. N made sure the blanket was in place before spreading his wings and flying off. E's eye lights hollowed out before they closed them tightly.
Feeling N even out, E opened their eyes. They looked around at the now small world with child like awe. N smiled at their expression as he flew. Soon enough the horrific sight of the corpse spire came into view. N grew nervous. After all he never thought about how his coworkers would react to E.
