Chapter 9

I wake up with a note by my head and a teddy bear in my arms. I pick up the note and read it.

~Hey Mackenzie! You fell asleep a little while ago and I decided to write you this so you know that I went back to the 5SOS house. You know you are really cute when you sleep? You kind of snore a little, like a kitten. Wait, that sounded really creepy. Ugh now this is kind of awkward. Although you are reading this and I'm just writing like 8 hours away from this current moment. You know this is way harder than in the movies. I'm hoping you don't find this weird. Well, I'll see you later? Actually, text me when you read this. Wait, that sounds clingy. This is actually getting really long. Um, bye! –Luke

I smile to myself as I look over the note again. This is actually really cute, like Luke. Wait, what? Did I just call Luke cute? Well, I am a fangirl, of course I think Luke is cute. Whatever, I have no time to think about this, I have things to do. I quickly get dressed for school, wearing my white sundress and brown sandal heels. I put my hair into quick beach curls and grab my bookbag to head to school. I walk out of the door, hoping to miss my mom on the way out. It actually turns out that she had left for work already. As I get in the car to drive to school, I decide to quickly text Luke and tell him I got his note. I mean, isn't that what friends do?

Mackenzie: Hey Luke, I read your note. It was actually pretty funny. Thanks for taking time to write it, bye.

I press send and start driving to school.

*1 hour later aka first period*

I slide into my seat, next to Winter, and find a note on my desk. Is today National Write a Note to Mackenzie Day?

Kenz, where were u? U were supposed to fill us in on the group chat. What happened?? U have a lot of explainin' to do – Winter

It's a long story. – Mackenzie

Then give me the short version – Winter

Dinosaur Mom hit me – Mackenzie

No way! – Winter

Yep, but it's not that big of a deal. – Mackenzie

It's a huge deal! Kenz, she promised you! Why didn't you tell us? – Winter

It was late and I was talking to someone. – Mackenzie

Who????? – Winter

Luke... - Mackenzie

OMG Mackenzie Elizabeth Hart! – Winter

What?! He's my friend. – Mackenzie

Are you sure that HE thinks that? – Winter

Yeah girl, c'mon! – Mackenzie

Okay, but Nicole is kinda pissed btw. – Winter

I'll talk to her. – Mackenzie

K, I have to leave or else the teacher will catch me..again. – Winter

Okay, I'll destroy the note. – Mackenzie

I crumble up the note and throw it away when I hear my name on the speakers.

MACKENZIE HART FOR CHECKOUT, MACKENZIE HART FOR CHECKOUT.

I glance at Winter and shrug at her, whilst I grab my bag and walk out of my classroom door. Maybe missing English with Mr. Greenwood isn't so bad? I walk to the front office and see a 6'4 looking man with a fake mustache and a black fedora. That isn't, but is it? Oh my gosh, it is! Luke Fricking Hemmings is checking me out from school?

"Um...hi." I look at Luke with discouraging look.

"Your Uncle John has come to pick you up. Do you want me to alert your mother?" The front desk lady asks.

"No, she knows already." I assure her. She makes Luke sign a few papers and lets us leave the school building. After getting a safe distance away from the school, "What are you doing here?!" I smack his arm. He chuckles. "Luke! This is not funny! You can't just show up at my school and check me out wearing a fake mustache and an ugly hat."

"I thought the hat was kind of cute." Luke shrugs and opens the door for me. I slide into the seat.

"Is that really the part that you noticed after me screaming at you?"

"I don't know, you're kind of cute when you yell at me."

"Stop that! I'm really mad at you." I try to hide my blush.

"No you aren't. Not after you find out where we are going."

"Where are we going??"

"Not telling you." I groan and ask the same question for the whole car ride until we end up at our destination. I kick up my feet and throw pencils at him. I look up to see where I am.

"Oh. My. God. You didn't."

"I did."

"Aahh, oh my god! You toke me to the fair? Oh my gosh, you are so sweet!!"

"Told ya so, shall we go?" I put my hand in his and we begin to walk.

Author's Note: Important Information

Hi Guys! I hope you enjoyed Chapter 9 of Strange Love!! <3 I am going to inform you that I will begin writing these Author's Notes at the end of each chapter to tell you when I will be updating the next chapter. The updates are a bit slow right now, but I assure you that they will get better and everything will be just fine. I also have a new cover for my story, but it only has some minor changes. Also.
