[ stranded and hopeless]

Author pov...
After the death of kendrix, the room was filled with ear damaging silence. Everyone in their own thoughts as they took care of the injured children. With the supplies available they did a wonderful job on it. They both are very stable now, giving the rest a little relief. Though the younger's fever hadn't calmed down he was much more active now. Waddling around and talking in his little words that only he could understand.
But on the other hand, his seems to be big brother isn't doing anything. just staring in a corner of the room. Not even blinking or moving a muscle. Glad he is breathing or else anyone who saw him now will definitely say that boy is dead. Not showing an emotion, nor caring about the surroundings, he seems to be lost. His bright blue eyes look dull and lifeless.
Just as the boy Lennox is in the same state as him. no matter what he did he looks lost and tired. Eyes becoming duller and lifeless every time he unconsciously looks at the window he was standing near before. His mind continuously showing Arlos's face followed by the memories of him. He can almost feel like he is hearing Arlos's voice as he talks inside his memories. And now another friend left Infront of him, he can but think of nothing other than that he is useless. And sometimes that sadness gets so deep in your heart, that you can't even cry.
He can hear the voices in his head chanting useless, failure, pathetic, crybaby, loser like a chant. Only if he went with Arlo, he wouldn't be dead. Only if he were with kendrix then he wouldn't have to see his end like that. And only if he were more cautious Cyrus wouldn't have to leave that fast. He failed as a brother, failed as a friend, failed as a colleague, failed as a... human.
"This is going to be hard..." Cyrus said to himself.
His wound is bleeding more than yesterday indicating that kendrix was indeed saying the truth. But the question is how he knew everything... either way now because of him, they can be more cautious when confronting one of those monsters.
With a deep huff he looked at his friends who are arguing ever since they went inside. But they need to know that... he is going to die tomorrow. Or else they would be in much worse shape than Lennox currently is.
"Lord give me power." He prayed as he walked near his friends.
"Umm guys... I have something I should tell you..." he scratched his head unsure of where to start. "So, the thing is..."
When they both looked at him with worried eyes, he decided to tell them everything from the very start. How kendrix died and his analysis. The symptoms and how anyone will die if it bites one and to very last bit of the strategy that him, Lennox and kendrix made earlier.
"that's all of it..." Cyrus ended with a heavy heart.
"No, you can't leave us alone here... we have a company to run together..." Kreois ranted in disbelieve.
"You are going to die tomorrow... sound like a pathetic lie to me." Zeke slightly yelled at him.
"No, I am not. I swear on my life."
"Yes, you are... this has to be joke." With that Zeke left the room.
"Believe me please... why would I make a joke about something like that in this condition." Cyrus yelled loudly so Zeke could hear him.
At least he hoped so... he figured this would be difficult for all of them. But not this difficult. Acting ignorant was Kreois job before but now... seems like this whole thing has swapped a lot of people's way of thinking and lives.
"Tell me..." Kreois said in a little to no audible voice. "You are lying right?"
"Yes, I am... I wish I could say that... but no ... it's all true." With a heavy heart he went away from them.
He could hear the muffled sobs. And he sure knows from whom it is from. He wanted to make it stop. He wishes to do so... only if he isn't this helpless. He himself doesn't even know how he isn't having a breakdown. His silent cries wouldn't be silent if he stayed there one more minute.
Dashing out of the laboratory he sat near the now degenerated skeletons of the monster. Surprisingly, those creatures a weak on the sun as the body near him looks like it is burned down. With the ashes remaining beneath it. He wishes he could also burn away like that.
The pain he is feeling in his heart is making him go insane. Always being the one who takes every responsibility and seeing things go wild like now is making him angry and sad. He wonders how happy everyone would be if they went on a normal island like normal people did. One thing he sure did learn is that they can't be normal... life doesn't allow them to be... he indeed is a mess right now. He still has a lot of things to do... I lot of things to feel...
"I want to be the wind and the rain... I want to be the sea... I want to be in the sky at night. I just want to be free. Be a bird high above, soaring and flying around. To be without a care in the world. To be in love... to be joyous and happy forever. I don't want to feel this pain. It hurts so much." His heart churned in pain. "All I want to be is carless, reckless, and wild... I guess it all will be a dream to be forgotten now."
He hugged himself, unable to keep his emotions in control he burst out... crying as his heart and mind desired to do so... tears damping his cotton blood-stained shirt. He sat there crying in the burning sun of the noon. Wishing he could do something more... but there is none to be done.
Inside the laboratory things are going chaotic. Panicking they tried to calm the situation. Tried to revive the lost heartbeats of the small child. The chest compressions and CPR they are giving him isn't working. His body become dangerously pale and cold. With teary eyes Kreois prayed for the child as the other two took rounds trying to revive him.
"We can't... he is long gone... there isn't any pulse..." Lennox said stopping his actions.
"What happened to him all of a sudden..." Zeke said in confusion. "He was playing with us a moment ago."
"Internal bleeding..." Lennox said in a dry tone.
Quite the opposite side of them the child sat there looking directly at them. At the lifeless body in between them. Tears rolling down uncontrollably as he ran towards the body. pushing Zeke away as much as his little body allowed to. He hugged the cold child tight and close. For the first time after the last accident, he screamed. Pain, grief, and a mix of uncontrolled emotions following through it.
"What in the hell happened here?" A woman's scream echoed inside the building.
"Love... let's just wait here till everyone comes outside... they might not be here..." a man trying to convince her following behind.
The two people inside the room froze upon realizing the voices. They are glad to hear those voices after a lot of long days but now is not an ideal time. They both looked and each other's face worriedly and then at the crying child near them and absent-minded Lennox now standing next to the window like nothing happened.
