Chapter 2 'You pulled the trigger'

Stellar and Lila walk along the streets, searching for another option.

Stellar glares up at the sun.

"Why is it so bright?" She complains.

"Honestly, I agree." Lila says.

The two continue walking until Stellar breaks the silence again.

"What are we doing?" She asks.

"I don't know." Lila says, throwing her hands up in frustration. "We need a briefcase."

"Okay. So..." Stellar trails off, thinking. "Didn't the Hargreeves use one of the briefcases to get here?" 

Lila looks at her, eyes shining in realisation.

The two sisters stare up at the Sparrow Academy, watching through a narrow window as a girl leaves a room. 

Lila smirks, lollypop stick in her mouth and holds out her hands. They glow a faint pure white, and she lifts herself off the ground. Stellar raises her eyebrows as Lila ascends up to the top of the academy. 

She sighs and holds out her own hands. They glow purple and Stellar breathes out, her eyes taking on the same shade as a transparent violet platform appears next to her. She walks onto it and flicks her wrist upwards. The platform obediently travels up to the top of the building, where Stellar gracefully steps off and joins Lila on the roof. She snaps her fingers and the platform dissolves.

Lila gestures for her sister to sit next to her. 

"The briefcase has to be in there." Lila says. Stellar nods.

"Wait a little longer. In this light, they'll see." Stellar points out.

The two sisters turn to face the city, staring out at the busy roads and tall buildings. Stellar sighs and pulls out a pack of gummy bears from in her skirt pocket. The packaging rustles as she opens it and pops one in her mouth. Lila holds out a hand, not looking away from the view in front of them.

Stellar raises one eyebrow, and Lila turns to her expectantly. Stellar pulls the bag to her mockingly, and Lila reaches for it. The two girls wrestle until Stellar finally pulls a gummy out of the bag and places it in Lila's outstretched hand as they both laugh.

The crow flies back into Lila's back, dissolving as she regains her consciousness. Stellar holds out the briefcase in her lap, and Lila gasps, hugging it to her chest with a laugh of relief. The two sisters look at each other and Lila flicks the clasps, both of them holding on. 

The briefcase whirrs and sputters before powering down again. 

Stellar widens her eyes and Lila shakes the briefcase madly before trying one more time. When nothing happens, Lila puts the briefcase down and leans on her elbows, looking down trying to conceal her rage. Stellar lets out a short exclamation of rage.

"Goddamn it!" She yells.

"Wait, where's Lila?" Five questions.

"Shower. I told her and Stellar they could stay with us." Stanley answers.

"Wait, when did Lila and Stellar get back?" Viktor asks. Five ignores him and walks off.

"Where are you going?" Diego says, watching him.

"To go talk to somebody -maybe two people- who only has half her head up her ass." Five says flatly.
