I was about to kick them out but Crystal spoke up.
"Goo, stop it! You're being rude!"
"What it's the truth!" He giggled.
I glared in annoyance.
I noticed Gun looking at me.
"What?" I snapped.
Everyone looked at me.
"Uh oh. Struck a nerve!" Goo laughed.
I threw the first thing I could reached at him but he dodged easily with another annoying laugh.
Gun caught the thing and examined it.
"Cross country?" He asked reading the trophy.
"Yeah, and what?" I took it back and set it down on its spot.
I need to take a breather.
I turned and walked out to the back patio and sat on the step.
Ugh.
I held my head in my hands with my elbows on my knees.
I hate when someone shit talks my family.
I hate it!
"Can I smoke here?"
I looked up to see Gun with a cigarette out and a lighter in hand.
I motioned for him to go ahead and he lit it.
I put my head back in my hands.
Did I overreact?
"Goo's a piece of shit."
I looked back up at Gun.
"Huh?"
"He's annoying and inconsiderate."
"I CAN HEAR YOU!" Goo shouted from inside.
"Good!" Gun shouted back.
"I don't like people talking about my family like that. I know we're broke but that doesn't mean he can just talk about my family like that. They're still human."
Gun blew out smoke.
"Loyalty and respect are good qualities to have." He nodded.
"I shouldn't have thrown that trophy at him though. I could have hurt him." I ran my hand through my hair.
"I would have found that amusing." He said with a slight smile.
I looked at him.
"What do you do for work exactly?"
"I'm Crystal's bodyguard." He taped the cigarette and ashes flickered off.
"So you know some fighting skills?"
"Some." He agreed.
"I wish I knew how to fight. Would have saved me a lot of trouble and hospital bills." I grinned bitterly.
"How so?"
"I was bullied for being fat and ugly in middle school. At first it was just words and shit but eventually it turned to dumping food on me and chasing me to beat me up."
"Hm."
"Ugh, sorry for trauma dumping. I always do that! I should get a better therapist instead." I laughed and tried to secretly wipe away my tears and snot.
"I did ask so I suppose it's fine." Gun tossed his cigarette and it landed on my dad's ash tray "Come back when you're ready."
He turned and walked back in.
I groaned and held my head.
Once I regained my composure, I went back in.
