Words as Weapons

The group project started off with an energetic brainstorming session, but soon turned into chaos. As they divided tasks, tensions began to rise. Zyran and Kai exchanged pointed looks, each unwilling to back down.

“Can you just let me handle the visuals?” Zyran said, frustration creeping into his voice. “Your ideas are always so… basic.”

Basic?” Kai scoffed, leaning back in his chair. “At least I’m not dreaming of being some wannabe artist while the rest of us are actually working toward our futures.”

“Guys, can we focus?” Amara interjected, trying to keep the peace. “We need to make this project work.”

“I’m just saying, if Zyran spent less time daydreaming and more time being practical, maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess,” Kai snapped.

Zyran’s face flushed with anger. “You think you’re so much better than everyone else just because your parents have money, huh? You wouldn’t know hard work if it hit you in the face!”

“That’s rich coming from you, the kid who thinks he can get by on talent alone!” Kai shot back, his voice rising.

“Enough!” Yuu exclaimed, stepping in. “This isn’t helping. Let’s just focus on what we need to do.”

But Kai wasn’t finished. “You think you can just keep throwing insults around and it won’t come back to bite you? You’re pathetic, Zyran. Just admit you’re jealous of me.”

Zyran’s fists clenched. “Jealous? Of what? Being a spoiled brat who hides behind his family’s wealth? No thanks!”

“Guys, seriously!” Jaden pleaded, glancing nervously around the room. “We don’t want to get into trouble.”

“Trouble? You think I’m scared of a little detention?” Kai shot back. “I’m more worried about wasting my time with a bunch of losers.

Losers? Look in the mirror, Kai! You’re the one who can’t see past your own ego!” Zyran snapped.

The tension was palpable as the argument escalated. Riku attempted to intervene, but the words were flying too fast.

“Can’t you both just grow up for once?” Riku said, exasperated. “This isn’t a competition!”

“Maybe if Zyran would just accept that he’s not as talented as he thinks, we could actually get something done!” Kai yelled, his voice echoing in the classroom.

Zyran’s patience finally snapped. “You know what, Kai? I’d rather be a nobody than live in a world where people like you think they’re better than everyone else!”

At that moment, the teacher walked in, eyes wide at the scene before her. “What is going on here?”

“Just a little disagreement,” Yuu said, trying to downplay the situation.

The teacher crossed her arms, unimpressed. “It sounds like a lot more than that. All of you—detention after school.”

As the bell rang and the class shuffled out, Zyran couldn’t shake the anger boiling inside him. He shot a glare at Kai, who smirked back, clearly unbothered.

Enjoy your afternoon, Zyran,” Kai said mockingly, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

“You too, rich boy,” Zyran retorted, knowing this was far from over.

Just then, Yuu walked over to Zyran, her expression softening. “You know, all the things you say to Kai hurt me too. It’s not easy being caught in the middle of this.”

Zyran sighed, guilt washing over him. “I didn’t mean to hurt you, Yuu. It’s just… he pushes my buttons.”

“I get it, but remember, we’re all dealing with our own struggles because of our parents,” Yuu replied gently. “Let’s try to find a way to work through this without tearing each other apart.”

Zyran nodded, feeling a mix of understanding and frustration. “I’ll try, but it’s hard when he makes it so personal.”

Yuu smiled faintly. “Just be careful, okay? We’re still family.”
