The next day at school, Kai’s mind was racing with thoughts. He hadn’t meant to leave things awkwardly with Zyran. He felt the weight of his impulsive exit yesterday, and the image of Zyran’s drawing still lingered in his mind. Today, he was determined to apologize, to make things right.

As he walked into the classroom, he spotted Zyran sitting at their usual table, chatting with Jaden and Amara. A part of him felt nervous, unsure of how Zyran would react. But before he could take a step forward, Zyran glanced up, their eyes briefly meeting before Zyran looked away, completely ignoring him.

Kai’s stomach droppedWas he really going to act like nothing had happened? He had expected some kind of response, even if it was just a glare. Instead, Zyran’s dismissal stung more than he anticipated.

Yuu and the others noticed the tension. She raised an eyebrow at Kai, her expression a mixof surprise and concern. You good?she asked quietly

Yeah, just…,” Kai replied, attempting to sound nonchalant. But his voice lacked its usual confidence.

Throughout the day, Kai tried to catch Zyran’s attention in little ways—making jokes during lunch, nudging him during class, even pretending to be interested in what Zyran was drawing. But each time, Zyran remained distant, engrossed in his conversations with the others.

Kai felt a knot tighten in his stomach. It was time for gym class, a chance to reset the day, but also a chance to see how Zyran would act in a more competitive environment.
The gym was filled with the sounds of laughter and chatter as students filtered in. Kai watched Zyran from a distance, who was surrounded by friends and clearly enjoying himself.

“Hey, look, it’s the famous art duo,”leo teased as he bumped shoulders with Kai,"You think Zyran’s still mad at you?”

I didn’t even get a chance to apologize"Kai muttered, frustration bubbling under the surface.

“Maybe you should just talk to him, man. You
can’t expect him to read your mind,” Leo suggested with a shrug

,”Yeah, well, he’s making it pretty hard,”Kai replied, his eyes still fixed on Zyran.

When the gym teacher clapped his hands to gather everyone’s attention, Kai knew this would be the perfect moment to break through the awkwardness.

When the gym teacher clapped his hands to gather everyone’s attention, Kai knew this would be the perfect moment to break through the awkwardness.

“Alright, everyone! Today we’re playing dodgeball!” the teacher announced, a cheer erupting from the class.

Kai’s competitive nature kicked in, and he glanced over at Zyran, who was already rolling up his sleeves, ready for action. Maybe this was his chance to not only focus on the game but also to get Zyran’s attention without the weight of yesterday hanging over them.

As the game started, Kai made sure to position himself near Zyran, hoping that the thrill of competition would help bridge the gap between them. The ball whizzed by, and he dove to the side, narrowly avoiding a hit from Jaden.

"Watch it!"Kai shouted, laughing as he tossed the ball back into play, trying to make eye contact with Zyran.

Zyran caught the ball and glanced at Kai for a brief moment, an eyebrow raised. Kai’s heart raced; maybe this was it.

"Come on,zyran! show me what you've got!"Kai called out, a playful challenge in his voice.

Zyran hesitated, then smirked, the hint of acompetitive spark igniting in his eyes. “Just don’t cry when I win, Kai.”

JKai grinned, the tension from earlier fading for just a moment. It was a start—a sign that maybe, just maybe, Zyran wasn’t completely done with him yet.
