2J was more chaotic than her and Wren's apartment, Olive thought to herself as she sat on the orange couch, listening to the boys argue.
It was hockey preseason, and Kendall had invited her over to join the boys as they watched the game between the New York Rangers and the Tampa Bay Lightning.
"Dude seriously!" Carlos groaned as the Lightning got another goal.
He was a Rangers fan, Olive had learned, and Logan was a Lightning fan.
To her left, Logan was basically buzzing with energy and enthusiasm as his team scored another goal.
"I told you that we were going to win." He bragged, and Carlos rolled his eyes.
"Yeah yeah."
Olive snorted, her gaze falling back to her phone. The text from Mall Girl - Lexi, she had learned, was still unanswered.
do you want to hang out again?
Which truthfully, Olive did. Lexi was funny. Pretty too. But Olive didn't have friends. She didn't know how to make them, let alone keep them.
The only reason she managed to keep the boys around was because they refused to let her go.
"You okay Ollie?" Kendall's voice broke her out of her thoughts. She looked up, and the Rangers were now in the lead.
Logan was scowling at the screen while Carlos was doing his happy dance, which could only be described as the oddest gyrations Olive had ever seen.
She nodded, giving Kendall a quick smile. "Yeah. Just uh. I'm kind of tired. Think I'm gonna go home guys." She got up, and Logan's gaze shifted from the TV to her. His eyebrow raised and he looked at her with concern.
She could read his silent question. Are you okay?
She shrugged, grabbing her phone off the coffee table and her coat off the back of the couch, climbing over teenage boy limbs in her efforts to get out of the apartment.
"Katie I'm leaving!" She called out, and the little girl yelled back goodbye. Olive turned back to wave at the boys, and Logan got up.
"I'll walk you to your apartment." He said, hands shoved in his pockets and Olive shook her head.
"That's not necessary." She said, tucking her hair behind her ears.
Logan shrugged. "It's no big deal." He turned back to Carlos. "Let me know the score."
Carlos saluted in response before waving at Olive.
"Night Olive."
"See you tomorrow." The other three boys chorused. Their attention was fully back on the game, as Olive turned around, exiting the apartment, Logan following her.
They walked down the hallway in silence for a moment before he spoke. "So did you enjoy the fair?" He asked, and Olive shrugged. Her hair fell over her shoulders as she walked.
"Yeah. I mean, I didn't really want to go, but Wren made me. It wasn't too bad though. Hanging out with Wren and Lexi."
"Lexi?" Logan asked, and Olive paused. "Who's Lexi?"
Technically, Olive didn't have to tell him shit. Lexi was her friend. Sort of. And Logan didn't need to know everyone she hung out with.
"A friend." She said, crossing her arms over her chest.
Logan didn't say anything in response. Olive sighed. They made their way around the corner and she stopped them right before they got to her apartment.
