Elisa knew that she had to tell her boss of her pregnancy. She couldn't go on being sick on the job. She needed to take it easy right now. It was critical. She didn't want to lose the baby.

Elisa reluctantly went and told her boss that she was expecting. Maria wasn't surprised. She knew it could happen to women of younger years, but especially newly married ones.

"Well, that changes things for you. With what Detective Bluestone tells me, you shouldn't be out on physical patrols. You've been rather sick lately. Now I know why. You can either start working at the dispatch, Maza, or it might be better to have temporary leave." Maria explained.

Elisa knew she didn't want to take chances with the baby. Police work was a very demanding and stressful job. "I'll take the dispatch job. I don't want to risk injury or miscarriage." She replied. "Thanks, Captain."

"Tomorrow night then." Maria said.

"Thank you." Elisa stated.

...............

She went and told Goliath and the clan that she wouldn't be working with the force in the field arresting or fighting people during her pregnancy. She was demoted to a dispatch officer on the phone and taking notes. Filing reports. Directing officers instead.

"Well, you have to take what you can get, Elisa, for the baby's sake and yours." Lex advised.

"Yeah. The morning sickness is bad enough for me. I don't need more stress on me." She said.

"I'm proud of you, Elisa. You're doing this for the safety of our baby." Goliath held her hand.

She was glad he felt that way.

...........

They waited for a few more weeks before telling Diane and Peter Maza that they were going to be grandparents.

They were shocked at first that it had happened, not thinking it was going to happen that way. They thought adoption, but they got over the shock and were happy for their daughter.

Derek and Maggie were already parents to a son. Maybe Elisa's was a girl. Eventually, Derek was told too and he was happy for his sister. His son would have a new cousin.

Beth was also told that she was going to be an aunt for the second time. She was thrilled too for her sister. Starting a family with the gargoyle she loved was wonderful.

...............

Later, on the spring equinox, Brooklyn and Katana's egg finally hatched and it was a little girl. She looked like her father but had her mom's black hair and limb spurs. They ended up naming her Taichi. The nickname Egwardo was now dropped.

Elisa was glad to see the new baby girl. Her child would be six months younger than this one. She had six months to go before she had hers. But of course, Brooklyn and Katana had been waiting for a decade to finally see their daughter. Elisa only had to wait a few months.

The clan would certainly be busy keeping tabs on Taichi for a while.

..............

The clan knew that Elisa had to take it easy over her pregnancy too as she was often a target by Demona too. Elisa and Demona were downright rivals. Elisa didn't want any chances taken with her pregnancy. She moved into the castle to be with Goliath and the clan for her safety. It also helped to have Fox around too since she had been pregnant before and was a young mother.

She liked feeling the baby move once it started moving. Goliath and the clan were allowed to feel the baby move as they never could feel their own kids move during pregnancy. It was fascinating to feel the fetus move and see it on ultrasound.

Goliath was the only one allowed in the room for the exams. It was just something personal.

Dr. Sato was their doctor. He was pleased that the child was doing so well. He was still shocked though that it didn't have more gargoyle-like features on it.

"Do you two want to know the sex?" Sato asked. It was now the 20th week marker.

"Can you really see the sex of it?" Goliath asked curiously.

"Yes, I can." Sato replied.

Goliath looked down at Elisa. "We would like to start coming up with names for it." Elisa said. "Yes, we would like to know."

"Very well." Sato proceeded. He looked carefully. "You have a... girl."

Goliath was grinning so wide and proud. He had another daughter coming. Elisa was just as thrilled for that. She hadn't cared either way, as long as it had been healthy. But now they could start coming up with one gender names and getting supplies for the baby soon. Since it was a girl, Alex's clothes would be no good for her. Not unless they had a boy in the future.

After the exam was over, they both went out to show the clan the sonogram. Katana had Taichi in her arms. She was just holding her.

The clan saw the smiles on their faces. "So, what's the news?" Brooklyn asked curiously.

Angela was most curious to know if she had a brother or sister.

"We're having a girl!" Elisa announced joyously.

The clan cheered and were so happy for them both. The clan sure could use another girl with so many males in it at the moment.
