Etho's POV:

I slowly sipped my water while waiting for the teacher who was about to start today's first lesson.

"Good morning class." Mr. Finnigan sounded like he was having a good day so far "I hope you remembered to do the homework I assigned you."

I choked on the water from surprise.  I turned bright red as I realized that everyone in the class turned around to see who inturrupted the teacher. I slid lower in my chair so I would be less visible.

Fortunately the professor ignored me and the attention I unpurpously gathered on myself.

Snappers! I didn't have time to do the homework because of...other things that happened yesterday.

I raised my hand quite low, but visable so the teacher could see it.

"Yes Etho?"

"Um, so I coudn't do my homework yesterday." I slowly confessed.

"And why is that?" He asked nicely, without any angryness in his voice.

"I...some things have happened."

The professor definetly didn't took that excuse.

"...Etho. Let's speak after class."

Oh no, what did I do now?

I coudn't focus on the lesson, so most of it I spend overthinking about everything.

I can't lose this scholarship. This is my dream. I can't let myself distract, when I'm in collage and have so much to do.

This class felt longer than it actually was, but when it ended I didn't feel relieved.

"Etho? Come here, please" Mr. Finnigan called me when almost everyone had left the classroom.

"Yes sir?"

"You're falling back a bit Etho. I could see you didn't focus on today's lesson and that's another homework you didn't do in the past week."

I started mentally prepering myself to tell about yesterday in the least detail I could do.

"I'm sorry about the homework sir. Yesterday I was in the hospital, because of a medical condiction I have-"

"-which makes you faint. I know."

...

What?

"I'm sorry? How did sir find out about this? I don't remember telling the school about it."

Wait...

My father didn't come here did he?

...

He wouldn't dare.

That's not how he works. I know him.

"A redheaded girl came here yesterday saying she's your friend and telling me that you might not come to school today. I asked her what happened and she explained generally about your disease"

There's only one redhead I know.

"When did she come here?"

"Hmm, I'd say about an hour ago?" Professor checked his watch. "Maybe fifteen minutes before this class?"

"Okay, thank you. I need to go." I was about to leave when the teacher stopped me for a moment.

"I get that you have a hard time right now, but you still need to pass this subject. You don't need to do the homework that was for today, but be careful Etho."

"I will."

"You can always talk to me after class if you need to. Not only about school."

"...thank you sir, I'll remember that." A small smile appeared on my face.

How lucky I am to have people like Mr. Finnigan in my life.

"Okay, I won't waste your time here any longer, you can go."

"Thank you, goodbye!" I exclaimed as I ran towards the school exit door.

Cleo...we need to talk

I know this was short but soon will be another chapter 👀

I hope your day was filled with positive energy. And if not, maybe this little fanfic brought back some?
