Grian's POV: (I warn you: this chapter is long, comparing to my other ones, you can skip it if you want, it's just mostly the things taht already happened just in Grian's POV)

TW: PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

"Hmmm...Gem?" I answsered my phone after a couple of rings.

"Grian?"

It was a dark night outside the window and I could see the moon glowing in the sky. It's probobly midnight, why is Gem calling?

"Gem, what's happening? Have you lost your keys again? Check under the-"

"-No, it's not about the keys. Uhh...Joel has a...problem? I think it's the best way to say it."

I slowly started to get up from the bed and rubbed my eyes to regain vision faster.

"Hmmm...I'll start the car, while you tell me what happened, okay?" I grabbed my car keys.

"G...where are you going?" I turned around to see him still half-asleep talking to me in a sleepy voice, which I loved to hear, but I coudn't admire it now, in this moment.

"I'll be soon, just go to sleep darling"

I kissed him goodbye on the forehead and before I left the room I grabbed my favorite red sweater.

I turned back to the phone as I started heading towards the garage.

"I'll try to tell you most of the story while you drive but...don't go to his place."

What? He's not in his house?

"Where should I drive then?" I asked  opening the garage door. "Is he at Timmy's?"

"No..."

"Skizz's?"

"Uh...no..."

Huh? What happened to Joel?

Lots of thoughts and questions were swirling in my head.

"...don't freak out after I tell you, okay?"

That's the worst way to warn someone not freak out.

"Gem, where is he?"

She sighed before I got an answer from her.

"In the hospital..."

WHAT?!

I stopped on my way to my vehicle. I fought with myself to stay calm. I can't drive with this type of emotions on loose.

"Tell me everything Gem. Are you there? With him?"

"No, I coudn't go. Pearl is really sick, and I'm worried to leave her alone."

"Okay, stay with her. Is Joel okay? What happened? Should I be worried?"

"No, no! He's fine...physically, but when he called me he was crying."

"...In what hospital is he in?"

"*random hospital name, sorry I'm not good in names guys*"

I entered the address into the navigation on my phone and started driving. I tried not to exceed the speed limit, but sometimes I accelerated out of worry about Joel.

"Why was he crying?" I asked a question towards Gem.

"It's a bit of a long story..."

"I have twenty minutes 'till I get there. Can you tell the story in this time?"

"...Yeah, I think I can-"

She talked me thru all of that happened so fast that she finished the whole story perfectly when I was at the hospital parking lot.
