Rohini's POV:
I can't believe what my so-called mother said. She never liked me interacting with any man. Since the incident eight years ago, she has been extra strict with me and is now suggesting moving in with him. HIPOCRASY. I looked at her with hatred and disgust. She glared at me, and I continued to eat my food.
"Let us take leave now, we will see each other for shopping soon." said his mother hugging my mother.
"Sure." My mom said.
I waved bye at everyone returning to my harsh reality.
The week passed by in an instant. All I did was work, eat, pack my stuff, and sleep. It was hectic, but I made it. Today was the day I was supposed to go stay at his apartment. All my stuff was already there.
"Finally, you are going from here. Don't do anything that upsets him or his family," My mom said.
"Di, I will miss you a lot. Be happy and embrace this with positivity, he seems a pretty good guy. And if you ever miss me, I am just a call away" Aarav says hugging me.
"You are the only thing I'll miss about here," I said laughing.
Sighing and thinking about what the future holds with me I drove towards his house, Taking the final suitcase with me.
Aditya's POV:
I was somewhere happy when her mother suggested that she should move in with me. I don't know if I am right but I think there is something wrong. I think Rohini doesn't share a good relationship with her family except for Aarav. I noticed Rohini staring at her parents with hatred and disgust many times.
After that, the whole week was a very tough and rough one. I had to attend to lots of foreign clients at odd times while barely sleeping but I was super excited to welcome my fiance into my apartment. Today was finally the day she was coming and I was happy, I got the whole apartment cleaned. I decided to cook something for the evening.
The sun is setting, casting a warm glow through the large windows. The space is a blend of modern and cozy, with mismatched furniture and a faint aroma of spices from a meal. I am cooking in the kitchen. A knock on the door disturbed my cooking. As I opened the door a huge smile formed on my face.
"Hey, you made it! I was starting to think I'd have to go pick you up myself." I said as cheerfully as I could.
I notice her forcing a smile, still processing the sudden change in her life. She takes a step inside, her heels clicking against the wooden floor.
"Yeah, well, here I am. I guess this is home for now," she says sighing.
I watch her, sensing the tension in her voice. I gesture toward the living room, trying to lighten the mood.
"Home sweet home! Make yourself comfortable. I've got some pasta going, and I can whip up a salad if you want. You know you are lucky to taste Chef Aditya's cooking." I said hoping to fix her mood.
She glances around, taking note of the colorful art on the walls and the eclectic mix of books scattered on the coffee table.
"Pasta sounds good, actually. I love pasta. And about getting lucky, Don't get too ahead of yourself Mr. Kapoor." Rohini said her voice softening. I just smile it off.
She moves further into the apartment, her suitcase rolling behind her. I head back to the kitchen, and Rohini follows, curiosity piqued.
"So, how's it feel to be uprooted? I mean, it's not every day you get thrust into a new place with a stranger." I ask.
Rohini crosses her arms, a mix of annoyance and amusement playing on her face.
' "Stranger" is a generous term. We barely know each other.' She said.
I turn around a playful grin on my face.
"Fair point. But think of it this way-you can get to know me better while I make dinner. I promise I don't bite." I said chuckling.
Rohini can't help but chuckle, the tension easing a bit. She watches as I add spices to the sauce, my movements are confident and relaxed.
"So, what's your idea of a perfect evening, Aditya?" Rohini asks and I swear to god how smoothly my name glides off her tongue. It leaves me wondering how will it sound when she moans my name.
"Hmm, well, it involves good food, better company, and maybe a movie or two. And definitely not cleaning up after!" I said controlling my *inner thoughts*. Rohini laughed, and this is my favorite sound starting today and I love it.
"I might just have to take over the cleaning duty then," Rohini says smiling. I raise an eyebrow, pretending to be offended.
"You mean you'll enjoy spending time with me enough to clean?" I say.
We share a good laugh, and for the first time, I feel a connection between us. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves." She says smirking.
Author's POV:
As they continue preparing dinner together, the initial awkwardness melts away, replaced by easy banter and laughter. Rohini catches herself stealing glances at Aditya, his passion for cooking evident in every move he makes. She realizes she's starting to look forward to the evenings they'll share, a warmth spreading in her chest. But she doesn't want to hurt herself again in the same pain she shared eight years ago. She braces herself for the upcoming changes in her life.
