𝗒𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝖿𝗂𝗇𝗀𝖾𝗋 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝗂 𝖼𝖺𝗇'𝗍 𝗌𝗍𝗈𝗉. ❫It's been about two weeks since Adela was broken up with over text.
She wouldn't say she was okay per se, but definitely better than before. Work was a good distraction for her, and she didn't know that heartbreak could make someone so productive. Spending time with friends also helped - Adelaide, Selene and Vienna would pop in and drag her out to the mall, and of course she kept her Friday movie night traditions with Franco.
She'd cried, she'd gotten angry, and she'd overthink late at night - heartbreak was a flurry of overwhelming emotions that Adela never wants to even deal with again. On paper, Grayson was the perfect guy, it seemed.
But of course that didn't turn out the way she wanted it to. Her perception of him, of love, of everything flipped upside down - and truthfully, she knew she was being dramatic, but a two year relationship ending over text was something that seemed would be forever stuck in the back of her mind.
She's an overthinker by nature - which she genuinely hates. She wishes she could be like Franco and not dwell on the past.
Her mind tells her that she doesn't need to look for closure with Grayson, because it's a waste of time - but her heart tells her that she desperately needs it to heal. And she doesn't even know what to make of it anymore.
Will it only hurt more? Will I get the answers that I need?
Those are the questions that run rampant through her mind, and she sits at her desk, sewing machine right in front of her. She chews on her bottom lip in contemplation, picking the skin around her nails - if Franco were here, he'd shake his head and wag a finger at her to tell her to stop.
Adela stares at Grayson's profile on her phone screen, with no posts, no following and no followers - she's had him blocked for two weeks now, and it takes everything in her to not click the unblock button just to see what he's up to.
She hates him for hurting her oh so badly, but she can't help be curious. Was he fine, moving along with life as if a two year relationship just didn't end, or was he hurting like she was?
She wanted him to hurt. If she had to hurt like this, why shouldn't he? But something in the back of her mind tells her that he's not as bothered as she is about the relationship ending. He ended it so swiftly, so nonchalantly - he didn't seem to care at all, if he was doing it over text.
She switches her phone off, shaking her head. He's not her problem anymore. She deserves better.
But then her phone pings with a notification, and it's a DM on Instagram. It's from a girl she went to high school with, and she clicks on the message curiously.
And her heart drops when she reads it.
Hey, it's Luisa from high school. I wanted to let you know that I saw Nadia and Grayson together like around two weeks ago at a charity gala, but I didn't know if they were together as dates. But last night I saw them both at another charity gala and they seemed really cuddly and definitely giving off couple vibes. I didn't want to say anything until I was sure it was something suspicious. I know you're close with Nadia and you're with Grayson, so... just wanted to let you know. I'm so sorry, Adela.
Nadia... and Grayson?
And now everything clicks into place. She drops her phone onto the floor, eyes wide in shock. Nadia and Grayson were a thing? No wonder why she's been so distant, and no wonder why the split between her and Grayson was so sudden.
One of the people she trusted the most in the world has been messing around with the boy who broke her heart. Barely days after he'd dumped her.
Fuck. Adela found herself crying again. The moment she thought things could be looking up, they come crashing down. What did she do to even deserve this?
Luisa sends her a couple of pictures - and the worst thing is, Nadia's wearing the dress that Adela made her. She's wearing her dress, and messing around with her ex boyfriend. She doesn't even know whether to be furious, or sad.
Maybe she's both. All she knows is that she never wants to see either of them again.
This wasn't the closure that she wanted, but now she knows that she loathes Grayson. And she doesn't even know how she's going to break the news to the rest of her friends.
The five of them have been friends ever since eighth grade. And it's all turned to shit after this. Franco will be fuming when she tells him - he's already told her that he'd key Grayson's car if she wanted her to. He said it jokingly, but Adela can't help but think that he'd actually do it if she asked.
She hastily types out a "thank you for letting me know" message to Luisa before wiping the tears from her eyes.
She just needs to get out of here. Away from Buenos Aires, away from everything she knows - she can't stay when everything reminds her of heartbreak.
She dials a number she knows like it's the back of her hand.
"Fran? Would you mind if I tagged along with you for your next few races?"
