Adela picks up on the first ring when Franco calls.
"Hi, Fran," she says. There's an immediate smile on her lips when she hears his voice. "What's up?"
"I have to tell you something," he sounds excited. "Are you on your way to the airport now?"
Adela drags her suitcase along with her, shaking her head. "I'm already there. My flight's in about an hour - what's going on, Fran?" she waits for him to reply, tapping her foot in anticipation as she steps on the escalator step.
"I wanted to tell you this in person, but it's going to be announced in the next hour," Franco says, and Adela's eyes widen. Oh my god, she thinks. If he says what she's going to think he says, she thinks that she'll shriek in this airport right then and there.
"I'm going to be in F1. Starting from Monza."
She's so unbelievably excited for him and just wants to scream - but she knows that everyone will look at her like she's crazy if she does. "Holy shit, Fran! That's amazing - I'm so so happy for you!"
Franco knows she's smiling right now, and his expression mirrors hers. "Thank you, Dela. I couldn't have done it without you, you know. All the encouragement from you over the years - really, thank you."
Adela thinks that she could cry.
"You're too sweet, Fran," she says. "I'm gonna celebrate with you right when I get back to the hotel."
"I'll be waiting," he chuckles. "And hey, maybe dyeing your hair blue did manifest the seat for me. I mean, it's only for the rest of the season, but it's still a seat."
Adela smiles. "Huh. Maybe I did, then. I guess I'll have to have blue hair forever then."
