The lead up to proposing is always nerve-wracking.

Franco's fiddling with the box in his pocket with one hand as the two walk along the snow, his other hand grasped in Adela's. She's looking at the Northern Lights in awe, taking as many photos as she possibly can.

He takes a deep breath. Everything's prepared, this is the right spot — the lights are in view, and when he turns his head slightly, he can see his family and Adela's following them. His mother nods to him, as if to tell him that this is the right moment.

She was hinting at it. Even on the flight here.

Franco thinks she'll say yes, but he's still so nervous.

"Dela." Franco says to get her to stop walking. She turns her head. "Yeah?"

She can see how nervous he is, and she squeezes his hand to reassure him. "What's up, Fran? You seem worried."

"No, no. Look there. It's really pretty, no?" he asks, pointing at the lights. Adela looks in the direction he's pointing at, and his grip loosens from her hand, and he gets down on one knee.

"Fran, what—!" Adela turns her head once again when she feels his hand leave her grasp. And when she sees him down on one knee, she immediately brings her hands up to her face, gasping.

"Oh my god," she says. There's already tears in her eyes.

"No, Dela, don't cry!" he says — he thinks he's going to start tearing up too. "Okay, wait. Here I go."

Franco's not one for grand speeches, and it's here when he realises that he actually has no idea what to say. So he figures he should just speak from the heart.

"Dela. We've been by each other's side since we were babies. We've gone through so many different stages of each other's lives, and even during the most uncertain moments of my career, you were always there. I always knew that I could come home to you," he confesses. "And since we've been together, everything just feels right, and I've never been happier. I have never been more certain in my life that you're the person that I want to spend the rest of my life with."
