KHUMO
SOMEWHERE IN PRISON:
I never liked this place. It was surrounded by dangerous people and people who were wrong fully arrested. But I also get happy when he appears my heart feels at peace when I see him.
He finally walks in and my heart gets filled with joy. I wanted to run to him and gave him a hug but I couldn't hugging wasn't allowed or any other form of physical touch.
He finally sits down on the bench.
"Hi Ntwana wami." He greet me, I was fighting back tears.
"Ntwana wami." I said in-between tears.
It's been fours years he's been in this hellhole, he was suppose to be in here for 2 years by mysteriously. 2 years was added to his sentence but I knew better than to ask questions knowing that I wouldn't like the answers.
"It's strange seeing you here by yourself without Tsholo." He says.
"Guess I just wanted some alone time with my brother." I respond with a low sigh and he nods.
"So when are you getting married?" He asks, pointing at my ring.
"We haven't set up a date yet," I said with a casual tone. "But that's not why I'm here."
"You have to get out of here Kwenzo, we miss you." I muttered, "This life isn't meant for you and you know it so stop with the bullshit and come back home."
"I know you guys miss me but this is home. Prison life is the only life I know I know." Kwenzo said uttered.
It sounded a bit strange that prison has become home for him. Did he maybe feel like once he left prison I would be alone. I know mom and his father are gone but we've got each other doesn't that count for something.
"Spare me with the prison bullshit. You've been in here for 2 years and suddenly you know prison." I grumbled.
He started laughing, that's one thing that pissed me off with Kwenzo. It was hard to understand when he's being serious or joking. He was a natural clown.
"Fuck you Kwenzo." I hissed.
"Damn sis why so serious," He continues laughing then he stops. "Look I know I was suppose to be out but I promise I will be soon you just have to remain strong and patient, can you do that for me?" He pleaded, our eyes looked for a moment. "I promise." I vowed.
"Visiting hours are over!" The guard shouts as the prisoners stood up and were pushed back into those prison walls.
Although Kwenzo said what he said was a joke but I couldn't help but believe that there was some truth what he said. Why didn't he went to leave prison, what is that awaits him beyond those prison gates.

After visiting Kwenzo I decided to go to the hospital. I wasn't prepared to sit by myself, staring at the white walls and replaying what happened yesterday for the next coming weeks. While I was zoning out, an unexpected guest showed up in my office and it was none other than Sanele.
"Sanele what are you doing here?" I bleated.
"I should be asking you that question." Sanele settles inside the office taking a sit on the couch. My eyes darted to the way he spreads his legs when he leans back on the couch.
To make matters worse he's wearing a suit. God help me.
I look at Sanele who waits for my response. "I couldn't take another day in the house alone." I reply.
"I get that but you should be focusing on getting better instead of playing the hero." He answers bluntly.
"Whatever," I roll my eyes, not wanting to continue with this conversation. "Anyway what are you doing here?"
"Do I need to set an appointment to see my fiancée?" He plastered a smile on his face, I just nodded no. "But if you must know I'm taking you out for dinner."
I lean forward on the desk, sitting up straight. "Is this like a business function, the I-need-people-to-see-my-wife type of thing like the gala dinner?" I said in a small panicky voice. Because If it is then I'm not prepared I don't have a dress unless he has the outfits ready.
"No it's not, I just figured out that since you've been through shit lately maybe I should do something nice for you." The last part was whispered but I heard it.
"Oh." My face flushed, it was kind of sweet of him to do this but I don't want to get too excited because this behavior of his is unexpected.
Something between Sanele and I has changed I don't know if it's for the better or the worst.
"Never took you as the romantic type Mr.Ndlovu." I teased, leaning in closely so he doesn't miss my words.
"There's a lot you don't know about me Mrs.Ndlovu." His eyes drop to my lips.
"I guess I've got all the time in the world to get to know then Mr.Ndlovu." I say steadily as I met his heavy gaze.
The air between us has changed it's starting to get hot in this office and I don't know if I'll be able to handle the heat.
"Guess I'll see you tonight." He gaves me a smile.
"Yeah."
"Yeah." With that he stands and leaves.
I exhaled a deep breath that I didn't know i was holding. I don't know what just happened but I liked it.
