Sophie's POV
I'd always thought that being dead would be like being asleep forever. But I dreamt.
The pastures of Havenfield were a beautiful lush green as my friends and I wandered through the pastures, laughing at a joke Keefe had cracked a few moments earlier. Then, my vision rushed away, and a new one took its place. I was fighting the Neverseen after they had put Fitz and the others into a forcefield.
My third vision/memory was of some sort of butterfly and was perched on a yellow flower. Sitting nearby, there was a figure that looked dark and slightly menacing. The figure turned and looked directly at me. Their eyes were a bright red.
"Sophie Foster," the figure said in a dark tone, "I will enjoy meeting you and your friends when you come to me and try to defeat me." With that, I started to thrash as he continued to stare unblinkingly at me with his bright red eyes.
"Stop thrashing!" I heard a voice say, pulling me out of the vision. I realised that I was being dragged along by the person and nebulous horse I saw flying towards me when I was dying. She must have saved me! "Do you want to fall into the Gap?" I looked down and saw grey clouds as far as the eye could see.
If someone had asked me to name it, I would have called it 'The Great Beyond'.
I shook my head meekly because falling into those clouds didn't sound fun. At all.
"Then stop thrashing." The mystery person told me. I looked closer at her and saw that she was wearing a green headscarf and had strange brown-amber irises. She was wearing a strange armour, which consisted of a helmet, chain mail, and had a glowing spear strapped to her back. I then thought, "they're not a regular human or elf." Before everything went black again.

This chapter was heavily inspired by the chapter after Magnus died in his series, but in this book, this is set after the events of the third book of Magnus Chase, and after the 8th book of KOTLC,but some events are different, such as [SPOILER ALERT]
e.g. Keefe never went through his mother's experiment
