The Red Square Incident:
Chapter- 13 Echoes of Oppression
Note: This is a backstory chapter for the character Vladmir Korolev, who met his death in Chapter 12: The Final Hour.
July 21st, 1962
A child was born in Kalachi, a village in the Kazakh Soviet Sovereign Republic. The child was named "Vladmir" in honour of the founder of the Soviet Union, Vladmir Lenin. The surname Korolev originates from the family of his father.
November 23d, 1981
Vladmir is now 19 years old; he has joined the military in order to help the Soviets in the Soviet-Afghan war. The Soviet-Afghan war was still raging on. This is where Vladmir met Ivan Makhilov, and they became friends. Vladimir proved to Ivan and the Soviets that he was not to be taken lightly. He showed everyone that he was capable of destroying a lot of mass. This was once again proved in 1983 when he assumed command of a Soviet Army after most of their soldiers and the captain had died. His commanding led the Soviet army of 100 to win against the 3 Afghan armies, which had completely surrounded them on all sides of 3000. This is where the full wrath of Vladmir would be unleashed.
The Soviet Fodder System:
The Soviets had a fodder system that basically categorised the importance of a soldier in the Soviet armies. The fodders were the non-capable soldiers who were put first in line in the army as basically meat shields. Vladmir was categorised as a fodder because of his thin and scrawny look.
21st March 1984
Vladmir had been put in charge of a Soviet army with 10,000 soldiers. Seeing his friends die in battle had taken a toll on Vladmir's mental state. He had become extremely hateful towards the Afghans. Soldiers, citizens, children, women, men—he hated them all. This growing hatred made him slaughter thousands of innocent Afghans. A lot of soldiers, even soldiers who were captured, were slaughtered, and even those who surrendered. This is where the Echoes of His Oppression started to fly across Afghanistan. This news reached the Kremlin, and Vladmir was pulled out of the Soviet-Afghan war. He was stationed in Kazakhstan with an army of 1000. This is where he would be stationed for the rest of his military career until the parade at the Red Square, where the president of Kazakhstan thought he would be a good protector to him.
Vladimir had become a tyrannical military general. Becoming tyrannical means everyone is scared of you. This is why he could never achieve his dream of being the best military general in the world. He wasn't highly esteemed, neither by the people nor by the government. Ivan was not very tyrannical, and whatever tyrannical thing he had done, he had kept a secret. This is why he is highly esteemed.
