"Did he seriously leave you more flowers?"Juliana sighed and picked up the huge, colourful bouquet that was placed inside her locker. It was so big she nearly dropped the coffee she had in her hand while trying to get ahold of it.
"He seriously did." She closed her locker and looked around. "Where's the nearest garbage?"
Maddy eyed them up and shook her head. "He must have spent a thousand dollars on flowers since you broke up."
They started walking down the hall towards the exit. When they got to the porch, Juliana spotted a garbage can and shoved the bouquet into it.
Nate had been leaving her gifts since they broke up, in her locker and at her front door; everything from flowers to clothes to jewellery. She tried her best to ignore his gestures but it was getting more and more difficult.
"We're still getting ready at my place, right?" Juliana asked, trying to get Nate out of her head.
It was Friday afternoon and Juliana, Maddy and Cassie were going to a party that Hailey, one of the seniors on the cheerleading team, was throwing.
"Definitely, I'm gonna pick up Cassie and we'll be there around seven." Maddy replied.
"Sounds good, see you in a few hours!"
On the drive home, Juliana could barely keep her eyes opened. She had been struggling to sleep lately, since she was so used to sleeping with Nate every night, even before they were together.
Now she had to sleep alone and it was hard; she felt like every night since they had broken up she never got more than a few hours of sleep. She was glad her friends weren't coming over until a bit later so she could try to nap before they went out to the party.
She arrived home and got a bottle of water from the kitchen before heading upstairs. She was looking down at her phone at pictures of outfit options Maddy sent and not paying attention when she opened her bedroom door.
"Juliana-"
"Fuck!" She jumped and nearly dropped her phone and drink on the floor.
Nate was sitting on her bed, looking like he had been getting as much sleep as she had been, maybe even less. His eyes were bloodshot with dark bags under them and his chestnut colored hair was unkempt. His usual perfectly clean shaven face had a hint of scruff on it, which was a very rare sight.
"Nate, what the fuck are you doing here?" She knew he had a key to her house so she didn't have to ask how he got in.
"I just have to see you, you won't answer any of my calls or texts, you won't even look at me in school." He said, his voice hoarse.
She didn't know how to respond at first so she just looked at him, willing herself not give in and jump on him and forget about all the bad things that happened between them.
