Kristin's POV:
"And how was your day Tommy?" He looked down at the iPad, flicking through the pages full of words.
"Good. Break. Friends."
"Oh that's good. Did you have fun playing with your friends?" He nodded. "You did yea?"
"Yea."
"Alright good boy. And who did you play with today?" He fidgeted with his fingers and it was then I realised that I only knew the names from the diary James' fills in every day. Tommy might not remember their names and he certainly doesn't have a button on his communication app for them. "Did you play with Beau?"
"Yea."
"And did you play with Pearl, Max and Freddie?"
"Yea."
"Would you like it if they came round here to play one day after school?" He nodded, slipping off the chair and wandering over to his drawers of toys. He picked out a piece of our plastic marble run set. "Would you like to build a marble run with them?"
"Yea."
"Okay, I'll work that out." I mean, I didn't have their parents numbers and this wasn't like primary school where you actually got to meet any of them. But, I'd ask Phil and James would probably know how to help too. "Can you try saying marble run Tommy?" I then pushed, this being the entire point of the conversation. We'd been recommended to encourage Tommy to talk more (the easiest way being to ask him about his day when he had his after school snack).
"Mmmmm." He said in reply.
"Good m's. It's a bit like my name, ma but mar. Try that, mar."
"Ma."
"Mar."
"Ma." He said pointing at me.
"Good try, one more? Mar."
"Ma." I just ruffled his hair across the table and took his water bottle to the tap, filling it up again before putting it back on the table and sitting down on the sofa. He was watching some youtube on his iPad and seemed perfectly happy. So I left him to it and skimmed through my emails.
Tommy's POV:
I like school at the moment. It's fun and I like learning all the new things. James lets me take lots of breaks and makes me laugh and smile. I also play with my friends and they're really nice too. Technically Freddie and Max were Beau's friends first, but Pearl and I know each other from our drama class because we got put into the same group. She was really nice to me and she sounds funny and I like her.
James said she is Australian and then we searched up Australia and I learnt a lot of things. I wonder if Pearl has ever met a kangaroo, I think they look funny but James said they can be dangerous. I don't believe him.
Freddie is cool and he likes music like me. He plays the piano a lot better than me though and he showed me a video on youtube of him singing a song. He sounded a bit funny but he said it was because of the microphone. I told him Wilbur plays piano too and he said it sounded cool. I didn't say Tubbo does because he's like me and doesn't play it very well yet. He's learning with Wilbur I think. He always takes his ukulele to Mumbo's music lessons, so he can't be learning it then.
Max is really funny. He always makes jokes and gets into trouble with our teachers but they still like him. James keeps telling him to focus more on his work because he distracts me, but I like him. It means I don't have to do as much stuff that makes my brain hurt.
Beau gets distracted by him a lot too, and sometimes she's the distracting one. James is always nice about it with her though. That's because Dad said her brain works a bit like Techno's. But she isn't the same as me or Techno's. It's just a bit similar I think.
