Phil's POV:

My phone kept ringing. Originally, I'd put it on vibrate and walked into the office building where my interview was taking place hoping it just didn't ring. Now, I was mere minutes into my interview and it was buzzing loudly in my pocket. "Sorry, I said, checking the screen and immediately putting it back in my pocket.

"Is it important?"

"Umm, it's my son's school. It's umm."

"Why don't we take a drinks break?" I cringed at the barely drunk mug of coffee in front of me on the table. "I'll give you a few minutes."

This was going well. I quickly answered the phone and ran my fingers through my fringe, trying to stay calm. "Hello?"

"Hi Phil, it's James."

"Hi James, what's happened?"

"Tommy got a bit overwhelmed in his science lesson earlier and ran off."

"Where is he?"

"He's in the sensory room. He only got as far as the field where Mr Dixon looked after him for a bit. He seems fine but I think we're done with school for today."

"Okay, well I'm in a job interview."

"Sorry! That was in the diary this morning and I'd completely forgotten. Have I interrupted?"

"A little bit, but I needed to know everyone was okay."

"When do you think you could get here for?"

"Maybe in an hour and a half?"

"Okay, tell you what, are you leaving his PE kit in his locker at the moment?"

"Yep, Techno put it in there for me the other day, we're going to leave it in there after it has been washed."

"Sounds good. I'll get him in his PE kit, stick his coat on and have him on the field until you get here. Call me on my personal phone where you're here and I'll bring him to the front of the school."

"That sounds good James, I'm sure he'll love that. Thank you."

"No worries, hope it goes well."

"Thanks, bye for now."

"Bye!" I sighed and turned my phone on silent before putting it back in my pocket and having a long drink of coffee.

I didn't have long until the interviewer stepped back into the room. "Everything okay?"

"Yes, all sorted thank you. I really appreciate that."

"Someone forgot their PE kit or something?" I laughed with the guy, who now sat back down.

"No, my youngest is autistic and it's his first year in school."

"Ohh reception is always a tough age, even when it's just playing."

"No, it's secondary school actually. He was..." I paused and felt myself sweating, "well it's complicated. Anyway, he's okay, everything's fine."

"Sure, sorry, I can imagine me asking so many questions wasn't helpful."

"It's okay."

"Thanks, so back to the interview, I noticed you worked at..."

Time skip:

I shook the man's hand again and tried to not look so desperate to get out of there as I sped back to the car park where I had parked. I was nearly breaking the speed limit on the way to school but called James just as I starting going up the hill.
