Rohan’s eyes sparkled with excitement as he leaned closer, his voice low and inviting. “Avni, I want to explore Delhi with you this weekend. Just you and me, discovering all its hidden gems.”
A thrill coursed through me at the thought of spending the weekend together, our plans unfolding like the petals of a flower. “That sounds amazing! Where do we start?”
We set off early Saturday morning, the sun just beginning to rise over the bustling city, casting a warm golden glow over the streets. The energy in the air was electric, a promise of adventure awaiting us.
Our first stop was the majestic Qutub Minar, its towering structure a testament to the architectural brilliance of its time. As we wandered through the sprawling grounds, Rohan shared stories about the monument's history with an infectious enthusiasm that drew me in.
“Did you know Qutub Minar was built in 1192?” he asked, his eyes brightening with each word he spoke. The passion he had for Delhi's history was captivating, and I listened intently, hanging on to every tale.
“Really? I had no idea,” I replied, my heart swelling with admiration for him.
Next, we ventured to the serene Lodi Gardens. The lush greenery enveloped us, creating a tranquil oasis amid the city’s hustle and bustle. As we strolled hand in hand, admiring the ancient tombs and vibrant flowers, Rohan pointed out the intricate architecture.
“Avni, look at this,” he said, gesturing towards one of the tombs. “The influence of the Sayyid and Lodi dynasties is still visible in the design. Isn’t it incredible?”
“It really is,” I replied, my heart fluttering at the way he lit up when discussing something he loved.
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, painting the horizon in hues of orange and pink, we made our way to India Gate. The majestic arch stood proudly against the backdrop of the evening sky, and I couldn’t help but gasp at its beauty.
“Rohan, this is breathtaking,” I said, my voice filled with awe as I gazed up at the towering monument.
He smiled, his eyes sparkling with warmth. “Delhi's beauty lies in its contrasts—old and new, tradition and modernity. Just like us, don’t you think?”
I turned to him, the weight of his words settling deep within me. We were a blend of different worlds, yet here we were, woven together by our shared love for this city.
The evening culminated in a romantic dinner cruise on the Yamuna River, where the city lights danced on the water as stars came to life. As we glided along the river, Rohan took my hand in his, the touch sending sparks of warmth through me.
“Avni, I love showing you my Delhi. You make every experience special,” he said softly, his gaze holding mine.
My heart raced as I leaned in closer, feeling a rush of emotion. “I love experiencing Delhi with you, Rohan. It’s like I’m seeing it through new eyes.”
The night air was filled with laughter, the gentle lapping of the water echoing our joyous spirits.
Sunday dawned bright and clear, the promise of a new adventure hanging in the air as we headed to the vibrant Chandni Chowk market. The chaos of the narrow alleys, the fragrant spices, and the colourful stalls invigorated my senses.
“Avni, try this!” Rohan exclaimed, holding out a plate of mouthwatering jalebi, the golden swirls glistening in the morning sun.
I took a bite, the sweetness exploding in my mouth, and laughed in delight. “This is incredible! How did you know I’d love it?”
“I just know you,” he replied, a knowing smile on his lips.
As we explored the market, Rohan expertly navigated the labyrinth of vendors, introducing me to local delicacies and hidden spots. Each moment spent together was like a piece of a beautiful puzzle, fitting perfectly into the picture we were creating.
As our weekend drew to a close, I found myself reflecting on the moments we had shared. It was more than just visiting Delhi's landmarks; it was about him sharing his love for the city—and for me.
“Rohan, this has been the perfect weekend,” I said, snuggling closer to him as we settled down on a bench, watching the bustling market life around us.
He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close, and I felt a sense of belonging that I had never experienced before. “I’m glad you enjoyed it, Avni. Delhi’s magic is even more special with you by my side.”
At that moment, surrounded by the vibrant pulse of our city, I knew that this was just the beginning of our adventure together—one that was intertwined with the spirit of Delhi and the love that was blossoming between us.
