The next morning dawned with a sense of anticipation hanging over the Burrow. The Weasleys and their friends gathered in the kitchen, the usual clatter of breakfast preparations subdued by the weight of their thoughts. George, who had barely slept, sat at the table, his eyes fixed on the clock that showed the whereabouts of each family member. "Any news from McGonagall yet?" Ron asked, breaking the silence.
Gracie shook her head. "Not yet. But she promised to send word as soon as she has any updates."
Hermione, who had been poring over a stack of ancient magical texts, looked up. "I've found some references to temporal magic, but nothing concrete. It seems like this kind of magic is incredibly rare and dangerous."
"Figures," Ginny muttered. "Nothing's ever simple, is it?"
Just then, a loud tapping at the window drew everyone's attention. An owl, bearing the Hogwarts crest, was perched on the sill. George hurried to let it in, his hands trembling slightly as he untied the letter from its leg. It's from McGonagall," he announced, his voice tight with emotion. He unfolded the parchment and began to read aloud.
"Dear Mr. Weasley and friends,
I have met with the Ministry officials, and we have much to discuss. The implications of this discovery are vast, and we must proceed with the utmost caution. I urge you all to come to Hogwarts at your earliest convenience. We will hold a meeting in my office to go over the details and decide on our next steps.
Yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall"
A collective breath was released as George finished reading. Molly stood up, her face set with determination. "Well, then. We best get ready. We have a lot to prepare for."
As they gathered their things, the gravity of the situation began to sink in even deeper. The possibility of seeing Fred again was both exhilarating and terrifying. They knew that whatever lay ahead, they would face it together, as a family.
The journey to Hogwarts was filled with a mix of nervous chatter and silent contemplation. When they finally arrived, they were greeted by Professor McGonagall, who led them to her office without delay. "Thank you all for coming," she began, her tone serious but kind. "What we are dealing with is unprecedented. The Ministry is still trying to understand the full scope of the magic involved. However, we have reason to believe that it may be possible to bring people back from the past. But this comes with significant risks."
Hermione nodded. "We've been reading up on temporal magic. It's incredibly complex and can have unforeseen consequences."
"Precisely," McGonagall agreed. "We must tread carefully. The Ministry has agreed to allow us to proceed, but under strict supervision. We will need to gather more information and ensure that we are fully prepared for any eventuality."
George, his voice steady but filled with emotion, spoke up. "What do we need to do?"George, his voice steady but filled with emotion, spoke up. "What do we need to do?"
McGonagall looked at each of them in turn. "We need to gather all the knowledge we can. Hermione, I trust you will continue your research. The rest of you, prepare for the possibility that we may need to perform some very advanced magic. And most importantly, stay united. We will face this together."
As they left McGonagall's office, the weight of their task settled over them. But with it came a renewed sense of purpose. They were on the brink of something extraordinary, and no matter what happened, they would face it as a family.
