"Uh who was that?" Lily asked
"That was my sister Ginny" Ron answered her
"And my girlfriend," Harry said proudly. Lily and James stared at him
"I knew it. I knew us Potters had a thing for redheads" James exclaims everyone laughs and Lily rolled her eyes at her husband before saying
"Oh James, ok we will finish this conversation shortly but we need to find your sister Harry"
Harry pulled out the Marauders map and activated it
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. She is in the Hufflepuff common room" He said. The office fell into a heavy silence. Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny exchanged worried glances, unsure of what to do next. Lily and James Potter stood awkwardly in the corner, their expressions a mix of confusion and concern.
"I'll go after her," Harry finally declared, breaking the silence. He glanced at Hermione and Ron. "Could you let my Mum and Dad know what's happening?"
Ron nodded solemnly. "Yeah, mate. We'll stay here with your Mum and Dad. You go find Gracie."
Without another word, Harry Disapparated from the office, reappearing near the barrels that concealed the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room. He hurriedly tapped out the rhythm and slipped inside.
Inside the cozy common room, Gracie sat huddled in a corner, her face buried in her hands. Her shoulders shook with silent sobs. Harry approached her gently, kneeling beside her.
"Gracie," he murmured softly, reaching out a hand to touch her shoulder.
Gracie looked up abruptly, tears streaming down her face. "Harry, I... I don't understand. How can they be here? How can they be alive?"
Harry sighed heavily, sitting down beside her. "I don't know, Gracie. I thought the same thing. But McGonagall... She tested them with Veritaserum. She believes they're telling the truth."
Gracie wiped her tears angrily. "But how is that possible? It's not fair. It's not fair that they get to come back, and... and..."
Harry put an arm around her, pulling her close. "I know, Gracie. I know it's not fair. But maybe... maybe it's a miracle. Maybe... we have a chance to be a family again."
Gracie shook her head, her voice choked with emotion. "I can't, Harry. I can't go through losing them again. I won't."
Harry held her tighter, his own heart heavy with the weight of their shared grief. "You don't have to decide now, Gracie. Just... take your time. They're here. They're safe. That's all that matters right now."
After a while, Gracie's sobs quieted, and she leaned against Harry's shoulder, finding comfort in his presence.
Back at the office, Hermione and Ron sat with Lily and James, attempting to explain the situation. Lily clung to James, tears still flowing freely.
"I don't understand, ," Lily murmured, her voice trembling. "How can this be possible?"
James placed a comforting arm around Lily. "I know it's a lot to take in, love. But maybe... maybe this is a chance for us to make things right."
Lily sniffled, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. "But what about Gracie? She ran off. She didn't even give us a chance."
Ron nodded sympathetically. "Harry's gone after her. He'll bring her back. Just give them some time."
Hours passed before Harry returned to the Burrow with Gracie. She looked exhausted but somewhat calmer. Lily rushed forward, enveloping her in a tearful embrace.
"Oh, Gracie," Lily whispered, holding her daughter tightly. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry for everything."
Gracie hesitated for a moment before returning the embrace, her emotions still raw. "I... I don't understand, Mum. How... how are you here?"
Lily pulled back slightly, brushing Gracie's hair from her face. "I wish I had all the answers, sweetheart. But right now, I'm just grateful to see you again."
James stepped forward, a hesitant smile on his face. "We've missed you both so much. We never stopped loving you, Gracie."
Gracie looked up at him, tears welling in her eyes. "I... I missed you too, Dad."
Hermione Ron watched quietly, their hearts full of both hope and apprehension. This unexpected reunion had brought joy, but it also opened old wounds. The night wore on as they talked, sharing stories and trying to bridge the gap of lost years but no one seemed to want to go into detail.
" I'm glad to see you can take care of yourselves," Lily whispered, pressing a kiss to Gracie's forehead.
James ruffled Harry's hair affectionately. "You've grown into a fine young man, Harry. We're proud of you."
As the sun rose over the horizon, casting its golden light Through the office windows , Harry, Gracie, Hermione and Ron stood together in silence. After a while Gracie spoke up
"We should probably get back to the Burrow Mrs. Weasley will be frantic. I mean all we left was a note."
"Bye Mum bye Dad see you soon. Bye professor " she finished as she grabbed some floo powder and threw it into the fire before stepping into it and being engulfed in emerald green flames. The others bid their goodbyes. Harry took one more glance before following his sisters footsteps and being engulfed in the flames and disappeared. Ron and Hermione did the same walking into the flames then disappearing back to the Burrow where they met a frantic Mrs. Weasley.
