Jang Wonyoung had always been the kind of woman who balanced her life with grace, even when the unexpected hit. At 28, she was already the head of the English department at a prestigious middle school in Seoul, raising her two-year-old daughter, Hyunseo, as a single parent. Despite the struggles of managing her career and motherhood, Wonyoung had built a routine she could handle. That is, until she met Ahn Y/n.

It started like any other rushed morning. Wonyoung had woken up early, fed Hyunseo, and left her at nursery before heading out for work. The plan was to grab a coffee at the usual café, located conveniently near her school, and then dash to her first class. However, when she checked the time on her phone, panic set in-she only had 20 minutes before she had to be in the classroom.

"Oh no, I'm going to be late," Wonyoung muttered to herself as she stood in line, tapping her foot anxiously.

As she debated whether to just skip the coffee, a deep voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Excuse me, you seem to be in a hurry. Go ahead of me," said the tall man standing in front of her.

Wonyoung blinked and looked up-way up. The man was easily over 190 centimeters, with broad shoulders, a sharp jawline, and a calm, professional air about him. He was dressed in a tailored suit, his posture as poised as his appearance. Despite his intimidating presence, there was a gentle smile on his face.

"Oh, thank you so much! I really appreciate it," Wonyoung stammered, quickly moving ahead in line. She placed her order, grateful for his small act of kindness.

As she grabbed her coffee and turned to leave, she glanced back at him.

"Really, thank you! You saved me today," she said, flashing him a grateful smile.

The man simply nodded, an amused look in his eyes.

"Not a problem. I'm Ahn Y/n, by the way."

"Wonyoung. Jang Wonyoung," she replied, her smile widening.

What started as a one-time encounter quickly became a routine. Almost every morning, Wonyoung would rush into the café, only to find Y/n already there, waiting for his coffee. They didn't always speak, but whenever he saw her in a rush, Y/n would let her cut ahead of him. It became their unspoken tradition.

"You're going to make me feel bad for always cutting in line," Wonyoung teased one morning, balancing her coffee and a bag of pastries.

Y/n chuckled, adjusting his briefcase. "You always look like you're racing against the clock. Besides, I don't mind. It gives me a break from my usual morning."

Over time, their conversations grew longer. They exchanged pleasantries, shared stories about their work, and before long, Wonyoung learned that Y/n was a partner at a prominent law firm in Seoul. He was busy, often too busy, but he always seemed to make time for their little café moments.

One Saturday evening, after putting Hyunseo to bed, Wonyoung's best friend, Yujin, came over for their usual wine night. They sat in the living room, catching up.

"You know, it's been two years, Wonyoung," Yujin said, swirling her glass of red wine. "You should really think about getting back out there."

Wonyoung sighed, leaning back on the couch. "I don't know, Yujin. My life is so busy with work and Hyunseo. And besides, I don't think I'm ready."
