The clatter of silverware and hum of conversation filled the cozy interior of Moonlight Garden, a quaint restaurant tucked away in a bustling side street of Seoul. It was a Wednesday night, and despite the midweek lull, the place was unusually crowded. Warm amber lights cascaded from artful fixtures, reflecting off the polished wooden tables and giving the dining area a soft glow.

At one of those polished tables sat Hwang Y/n, looking at his phone with a mixture of expectation and growing anxiety. He was dressed in a crisp light-blue shirt, sleeves rolled to his elbows, hair carefully styled. Tonight was supposed to be a promising first date with someone he'd met on a dating app. He had arrived punctually at seven-thirty, but it was now seven-fifty, and still no sign of her.

Meanwhile, at another corner of the restaurant, Song Yuqi fidgeted with the hem of her floral dress, eyes scanning the entrance for any sign of her date. She'd been set up by a mutual friend, told that the guy was "perfect" for her. But the minutes ticked by, and her phone remained silent. Her date was nowhere to be found.

Soon, the head server—Mr. Park—approached Yuqi's table with an apologetic smile.

Mr. Park (bowing politely):
"Excuse me, ma'am. We're fully booked tonight, and we have guests waiting. Would you mind sharing your table with another guest?"

Yuqi glanced at the empty chair across from her. She was supposed to be on a date, but evidently, that was not happening. Still, she hesitated. Sharing a table with a stranger felt awkward, but the restaurant's apologetic stance and the knowledge that her date was likely a no-show made her relent.

Yuqi (soft sigh):
"Sure. That's okay."

Mr. Park (brightening):
"Thank you so much for understanding!"

The server hurried off toward the other side of the restaurant. Moments later, Yuqi saw him speaking quietly to a tall figure in a light-blue shirt. The man's eyebrows rose, and he nodded, looking equally unsure.

Before long, Y/n approached, wearing a polite smile tinged with embarrassment.

Y/n (bowing slightly):
"Hi there. I'm Hwang Y/n. They, uh, asked if I'd share this table with you. Sorry if it's inconvenient."

Yuqi stood politely and returned the bow. "Song Yuqi. And it's totally fine. The restaurant is really packed tonight."

She gestured for him to take the seat across from her. A strange, slightly comedic tension hung between them—two strangers, each clearly expecting someone else tonight, now forced into this makeshift arrangement.

Y/n settled into the chair, setting his phone face-down on the table as if resigning himself to the situation.

Yuqi (trying for a friendly tone):
"So... were you waiting for someone?"

A sheepish chuckle escaped him. "Yeah, kind of a first date. She was supposed to meet me about twenty minutes ago, but it's looking like a no-show."

Yuqi exhaled, a look of sympathetic understanding flickering across her face. "Ah... same here. Blind date arranged by a friend—she said he was a nice guy, but I guess not nice enough to show up on time."

They exchanged a wry smile, bonded by the sting of being stood up. For a moment, neither spoke, each processing this inconvenient truth that they'd both wasted an evening—until now.
