POV ISABELLA ROSSI:
Elijah has to practically drag me out of the house. After he picks a car he gestures to me to get in. I do as I'm told and I sit down in the passenger seat and look out the window. I knew that it wasn't safe here; Ezra tried to hit me and Arthur's a junkie, I wonder what the other brothers are hiding. For now I need to keep my guard up and get high, it's ironic really, seeing your brother high, getting scared and then wanting to get high. I chuckle internally. Oh god, I hope this school isn't too posh and filled with rich spoiled brats, but those unfortunately exist everywhere. I didn't bring any money, how am I going to pay? I'm screwed.
"-- can go get your schedule" was Elijah talking to me? I think I zoned out "Were you listening to me?"
"Umm, no...?" I offer.
"I said, I'm going to give you one of my spare notebooks and some of my pens and pencils, when we get to school we can go and get your schedule, plus I'm giving you lunch money for lunch." he doesn't seem pissed for having to repeat himself, he seems kinder than the rest of his brothers, still I don't trust him one bit.
"Ok, thanks I guess." We settle back down in a cold silence. How long does it take to get to this school? Probably not much, but LA is very busy this time of the day, with everyone trying to get to school or work, but at the end of the day LA is always busy. I don't dare ask him though, I don't want to burden him too much.
"It's not always like this" Elijah breaks the silence.
"What?"
"I mean our brothers usually don't fight this much, our house is usually more peaceful, it's just everyone's stressed because they're having problems with some of their businesses, so tension's high" I just nod in understanding as Elijah parks the car. I get out slowly, finally noticing the throbbing pain in my shoulder from being dragged down the stairs out of the house and into a car. Elijah makes me follow him to the secretaries office where I get my schedule and my lockers key, afterwards Elijah hands me a pencil case and a blank notebook and a 50 dollar note. Who gives a 50 dollar note for lunch? Elijah sees the look on my face and reassures me, telling me he will give me more tomorrow. I don't bother explaining because he's being plain stupid at this point. Elijah takes one look at his watch before running to his class, without saying another word. I look up at the clock mounted up on the wall, it's 8.34 I've already missed most of my first class, might as well skip it entirely. I walk out of the school, and then decide to go around it, to find a quiet spot or some other kids. There's a group of 3-4 kids standing around smoking cigs there, perfect.
"Are you new?" one of them rudely questions as I approach them
"Yeah, may I have one?"
"Sure, why not. Avery give her one. What's your name, new girl?" he says, chuckling. Dickhead! He probably thinks I can't handle a cigarette.
"It's Bella" I say, lighting my cigarette, and putting it to my lips, I inhale it before letting the smoke go out of my mouth and up into my nose before letting it out again. It's a little party trick I learned from watching Micheal, Polly's son in Peaky Blinders. Have I ever mentioned I'm a Peaky Blinder fan? The boy chuckles at my trick, clearly impressed.
"I'm Matthew by the way, and that's Avery and Jace, and finally Lily." I smile at the girl, she looks friendly.
She comes near me and whispers into my ear "I hope you stay, it's boring having to hang out with these three morons, I need another girl in the group." I laugh at her remark before nodding. Some time passes of us mostly smoking and talking nonsense.
