Chapter 6

"Doctor, pls how is he?" I ask worriedly. I look at Nicky lying on the hospital bed looking pale.

"Don't worry miss, he's fine. Is good he was brought earlier otherwise his situation would have been a bit serious." the doctor says. 

"If I didn't take him and bring him here his situation would have been serious. Only if you stopped arguing and brought him earlier his situation would have been better." this annoying guy says to me. Seriously, what is his deal? But he was right, though.

I just roll my eyes at him and he scoffs at me. As if I care. I move and sit beside Nicky on the bed and brushes his hair with my hand. 

"Then I'll take my leave, Mr. Smith." the doctor bows slightly at the guy. Why was he being so respectful to this guy. Who exactly was he?

He nods at the doctor and he leaves. 

"I told you it was cold at night. Yet you guys were outside. Why don't you have a place to stay here? What exactly happened?"

I sigh, should I just tell him? Then I see Nicky's eyes open.

"Nicky, you're awake. I was so worried about you. here lemme help you. " he tries sitting and I help him sit up.  

He smiles at me, his cute chubby cheeks showing his dimples, "I'm fine sister." I smile at him and kiss him on the cheeks.

"I didn't realized you loved your brother so much" this guy annoys me so much.

"Of course I love him." I say to him in a pissed tone. 

"Oh big brother, you're here?" Nicky says to the guy and he walks to him and pats his head.

"Of course little champ. I wouldn't watch you die on the streets like your silly sister." he says looking in my direction.

"Silly?? how dare you call me silly" I say to him.

"Why can't I call you silly?" he says to me giving me a side eye then I look back at Nicky and scoff.

'"You're the one whose silly." I say to him.

"Little champ, tell me, why don't you guys have a home here?" he says to Nicky and I look at him. Why is he so interested in this topic? 

"I also don't know brother, I asked sister but she didn't answer." Nicky says looking at me and the guy also looks at me.

"Looks like I'm not the only one you haven't answered." he says to me.

"Why do I have to tell you?" I say to him.

"Sister, why don't you just tell us..." the door opens right after Nicky finishes his sentence. A nurse comes in with a bowl of soup.

"Mr. Smith, doctor Shuan said to give the patient after he wakes up." the nurse said with upmost respect to the guy. Why were they all so respectful to him?

"Hmm, ok." he says and the nurse starts feeding it to Nicky. I wanted to do it but I had to ask him something first. I stand up and grab his arm pulling him to the balcony, "You come here."

"Hey, watch it." he says and pulls out my arm from him looking disgusted. " What's with that face?" I say to him looking pissed.

"I don't like it when people touch me, okay?" he says to me and I roll my eyes at him.

"As if I enjoy touching you." I say to him and cross my hands on my chest.

"What do you want now?" he says to me.  

"Who are you, exactly?" I say to him and he crosses his arms on his chest with his eyebrow raised, "Why do you want to know?"  he says.

"Just tell me" I say impatiently to him. 

"If I tell you, you promise to tell me why you don't have a home here?" he says looking at me.

"Why do you want to know so much?" I say to him and he just smiles at me. 

"Alright, since you want to know so badly I'll tell you. " I say to him. 

"That's more like it." he says and he tells me about him.

"I'm Natheniel. Natheniel Smith. You??"

"Lily, Lily Whitney." then I find him looking at me.

"What??" 

"Nothing, I just think you're name suits you well, as pretty as the flower." he says staring at me closely and I somehow blush and for some reason I feel shy looking up at him. I turn to look in front at the window.

"T-thanks" 

"Well, except with your attitude. Your attitude sucks, ok?" 

I turn back at him, "Y-you....."

"What?"

I turn back in front of the window.

"You're really annoying. Your face doesn't match with your attitude either."

"My face, what's wrong with my face?"

"N-nothing" he was really handsome but his words were just annoying.

"So tell me, why don't you have a home here, Lily?"

The way my name sounded from his mouth was really .....wait, why was I thinking about this. What has gotten into me?

I sigh and I tell him all about I and Nicky and why we came to the city......
