Chapter 23 Malone Meets Adrian

The following day, Malone calls her Mother and tells her she will stay with them for a few days.
Malone: Hey, Mom! How have you and Dad been?
Mother: We have been doing just fine, hunny! Your Father and I miss you so much! How are you, my son-in-law, doing?
Malone goes quiet
Mother: Hello! Malone, are you still there?
Malone: Yes, Mother, we are fine. I miss you and Dad very much. I'm coming to stay a few days with you two. I want to spend some time with you two.
Mother: Oh, how wonderful! When you come, I'll cook your favorite meal!
Malone: I'll be there this evening. I have something to do this morning!
Mother: Okay, well, your Father and I will be here waiting, baby!
Malone: I love you both; I'll see you later!
Malone hangs up the phone and gets ready for her counseling appointment. She finishes getting prepared and walks downstairs. Triton is still asleep. She has packed all her bags to spend a few days with her parents. She puts everything in the car and heads to her appointment with Adrian. She arrives there and walks inside the office
Secretary: Good morning. Welcome to Adrian's Counseling Office! How can I assist you?
Malone: I had an appointment scheduled for 10:00 am this morning.
Secretary: Yes, I have you scheduled right here for this morning. You can walk to the back on your right, Ms. Adrian's office.
Malone: Okay, thanks!
Malone walks into Adrian's office, where Adrian stands up to greet her!
Adrian: Are you Ms. Malone?
Malone: Yes, it was nice to meet you.
Adrian: Nice to see you as well.
Adrian and Malone shake one another hand
Adrian: Please, have a seat!
Malone sits down
Adrian: So, what brings you by today, Ms. Malone?
Malone: I don't even know where to start! It's my husband! He and I haven't been seeing eye to eye lately. This is the most argument we have ever had in our entire marriage! I'm at my breaking point to asking for a divorce!
Adrian: What has caused you two to argue so much lately?
Malone: It started when he lost his job and finally got his business! When he does, he goes on a celebration day with some mysterious friend of his!
Adrian: So he won't tell you who the mystery friend is?
Adrian smiles at Malone
Malone: No, he hasn't, and I strongly feel it's another woman. I can't keep stressing myself. I'm pregnant; we are expecting a baby soon! If he wants to be a part of our child's life, he had better get his life together!
Adrian chokes on her spit for a second!
Malone: Are you okay?
Adrian: Yes, I'm fine. Would you excuse me for a second? I need to go to the bathroom.
Adrian gets up, goes to the bathroom, and starts talking to herself!
Adrian: Pull it together, Adrian! You still have a job to do! I can't believe he got this BITCH, pregnant!
Adrian pulls herself together and returns to finish her appointment with Malone!
Adrian: I'm sorry, but I think I have a cold.
Malone: It is okay! Are you okay?
Adrian: Yes, thanks for asking; let's continue!
Malone: I haven't been to work in a week or two! I'm sure my desk is packed with clients.
Adrian: May I ask what type of work you do?
Malone: I'm into real estate! I'm a realtor. I sell houses.
Adrian: Oh really! I might need to come by your office one day. I need another home!
Malone: Yes, I'd love to have you come by! Here, I'll write down my phone number and address for my office for you!
Malone writes down the information for Adrian.
Adrian: Thanks. I'll give you a call soon!
Malone: Okay, that's great! I'll be waiting. I'm feeling better now since I let all that out!
Adrian: You two need some space from one another. I'm sure you two will be fine!
Malone: Good thinking; I decided last night that I would stay a few days with my parents. They don't live far from here.
Adrian: Well, you know, what they said, reasonable minds think alike. That will be great. It gives you some time to clear your head.
Adrian smiles at Malone.
Malone: The best idea I can think of is to save this marriage! Thanks for listening to my sorrows! Where should I pay?
Adrian: Oh girl, you don't have to pay anything!
Malone: Really? Are you sure? It's the least I can do since I took up so much of your time!
Adrian: No, girl, it's okay! We will charge it to life!
Adrian gave Malone a bitter smile; when Malone got up and walked towards the door, Adrian rolled her eyes at her. Adrian takes out her phone and text Triton. Triton finally awakes from his sleep and checks his phone.
Adrian: Congratulations 🎉on the baby! You're going to be a fantastic father!
Triton looks at what Adrian texted him and replies back
Triton: I never told you about that! How do you know?
Adrian: Your wife came by my office today!
Triton drops his phone and picks it up; his mind starts to race! He was puzzled! Adrian calls Tritin; he answers the phone
Adrian: Please come to my place tonight!
Triton: No, Adrian, I told you last night was our last time together! It is destroying my marriage! You're a counselor; you should understand where I'm coming from!
Adrian: Counselors have problems and feelings, too, Triton! What does that have to do with anything? Plus, we wouldn't want Ms. Malone to find out about our little secret, would we?
Triton: So, you're going to blackmail me?
Adrian starts laughing
Triton: HOW ABOUT YOU LOOSE MY DAMN NUMBER AND STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM MY WIFE!
Adrian: The games have just begun!
Adrain starts laughing, and Triton hangs up the phone! He has a conversation with himself!
Triton: What the hell have I gotten myself into? I have to talk with Chris!
Triton calls Chris
Chris: Hello, Hey, brother!
Triton: Are you busy, man? I need to talk to you now!
Chris: No, I'm not busy. Well, I was sending over our business name. I have time to talk.
Triton: Good, meet me at my house around 6 pm.
Chris: Okay! Is everything okay?
Triton goes silent on the phone
Triton, I'll tell you when you get here!
Triton hangs up the phone. Malone walks inside. She forgot a bag she had packed.
Triton: Where have you been??
Malone stays quiet and walks upstairs
Triton: Hello, I know you are not dead!
Malone: I've been to my appointment!
Triton: What appointment?
Malone: I went to see a counselor!
Triton: Why did you need to see a counselor?
Malone: Are you seriously going to ask me that, Triton? Look around TRITON; our marriage is falling apart day by day. You can't realize it! I'll be back on Monday. I'll be staying with my parents for the weekend!
Malone walks out the door and drives off.
