Fidelity wasn't sure how long she had been sitting there on the floor of her dorm, knees pulled tight to her chest, her face still damp from tears. Everything felt hollow, like she was disconnected from the world around her. Her thoughts were a storm of anger and confusion, swirling relentlessly until they exhausted her.

The sound of the door creaking open was the first thing that pulled her back to reality.

"Fidi?" Penny's soft voice filled the room, tinged with concern. "Are you alright?"

Fidelity looked up, her eyes red and swollen, but couldn't find the words to respond. Penny, without hesitation, crossed the room and sat down beside her on the floor, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. The warmth of her friend's presence was comforting, but it also broke whatever fragile barrier Fidelity had left. She burst into fresh sobs.

"Oh, Fidi..." Penny whispered, pulling her in closer. She didn't ask questions, didn't say anything more, just held her tightly as Fidelity let out everything that had been building inside her.

Minutes passed, maybe longer. Time didn't matter. Eventually, the sobs turned to quiet sniffles, and the tension in Fidelity's body began to loosen. She was exhausted-emotionally drained, her head pounding from crying. Penny stayed by her side the entire time.

When Fidelity finally spoke, her voice was barely above a whisper. "He... he broke up with me."

Penny's grip on her tightened slightly. "Noah?"

Fidelity nodded, wiping at her eyes. "I don't understand... He just... pushed me away. Said I deserved better. What does that even mean?"

Penny frowned but kept her voice gentle. "It sounds like he's dealing with something, Fidi. Maybe he thinks he's protecting you, but it doesn't make it right."

Fidelity looked down, her throat tight. "I thought he cared about me. I thought he wanted us to be together. How could he just walk away like that?"

Fidelity's eyes filled with tears again, and she hastily wiped them away. "I just don't get it. I thought everything was going well. And now... it feels like it's all fallen apart."

"Boys can be so infuriating sometimes. They think they're doing you a favor by keeping things to themselves instead of just being honest."

Fidelity felt a lump in her throat as she spoke. "I just... I thought I was enough for him."

"You are," Penny said firmly, squeezing her hand. "You are more than enough, Fidi. Whatever Noah's going through, that's on him, not you."

Fidelity's heart ached, but the warmth and sincerity in Penny's words helped to ground her. She took a deep breath, feeling the tears finally slowing. "I just... I don't know what to do now."

"You don't have to know right now. We're here. You don't have to figure this out on your own."

The next morning, the sun streamed through the Great Hall's high windows, illuminating the long tables filled with students. Fidelity sat at the Hufflepuff table, flanked by Penny, Ava, Josh, and Cameron. The usual breakfast chatter buzzed around her, but it felt like she was encased in glass, the noise muffled and distant.

Penny sat close, her expression watchful. Ava was quietly eating, while Josh and Cameron tossed jokes back and forth, trying to lighten the mood. Despite the warmth of their friendship, Fidelity found it hard to join in. She pushed her food around her plate, the sight of it making her stomach churn.

"Fidi, you've barely touched your food," Penny said gently, her voice laced with concern. "Are you feeling any better today?"

Fidelity shrugged, glancing down at her plate. "I'm okay, I guess. Just tired."

"You don't have to pretend," Ava said, her tone softer than usual. "We all want you to be alright."

"I just... it feels strange, you know? Like everything was fine, and now..." Fidelity trailed off, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Like a switch flipped overnight," Josh finished for her, his expression turning serious. "That's rough. Noah is being a git."

Cameron nodded in agreement, leaning forward slightly. "You don't need to worry about him right now. You're the priority."

Fidelity felt a lump form in her throat. "I know, but it just hurts. I thought he cared about me. I don't understand how he could just walk away."

Penny reached for Fidelity's hand, squeezing it reassuringly. "It's not your fault, Fidi. Sometimes people make choices that don't reflect how they truly feel. It's confusing and unfair."

"Yeah," Josh chimed in, frustration evident in his voice. "He doesn't get to decide what's best for you without talking to you about it first."

Ava shot Josh a playful glare. "Just don't throw any muffins at him during breakfast, okay? That might cause a scene."

Fidelity managed a weak smile, grateful for her friends' attempts to lighten the mood. "I don't think I could aim that well."

As the conversation continued, Fidelity's thoughts drifted back to Noah. She hadn't seen him since their breakup, and the thought of him sitting with his Slytherin friends made her stomach twist. Just then, she caught sight of him at the Slytherin table, laughing with a group of his friends. Her heart sank, the weight of her emotions crashing over her again.

"Fidi?" Penny's voice broke through her thoughts. "Are you okay?"

Fidelity shook her head slightly, feeling tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. "It's just hard to see him... acting like everything's normal."

Cameron leaned closer, his eyes softening. "You'll get through this. It's going to take time, but you've got us."

"Yeah," Ava added, determination in her voice. "We're here for whatever you need. Even if it's just a distraction."

Fidelity took a deep breath, grateful for their support. "Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it."

As they continued to talk and joke, Fidelity felt the warmth of her friends wrapping around her like a protective blanket. It didn't erase the pain, but it made it a little more bearable. With every shared laugh and kind word, she slowly began to feel a flicker of hope. She might be heartbroken, but she wouldn't have to face it alone.
