As the days turned into weeks, Katsuki Bakugou and Shoto Todoroki's bond only grew stronger. The two boys shared countless memories together, navigating the ups and downs of kindergarten side by side. They could not be any happier, but this was about to change.

One afternoon, while playing tag, Bakugou spotted Todoroki sitting alone on a bench, staring off into the distance with a troubled expression. He jogged over, concern creeping into his voice. "Hey, icy-hot! What's wrong?"

Todoroki turned to him; his heterochromatic eyes clouded with uncertainty. "Bakugou....I'm leaving the city." He said, looking down at his lap.

Bakugou felt his heart drop, disbelief washing over him. "What? You can't just leave! You're my sidekick!" His voice wavered, the strong demeanour he always wore faltering for the first time.

"I know," Todoroki replied softly, still looking down at his lap. "But I don't have a choice. It's what my family wants to do."

Bakugou clenched his fists, frustration boiling inside him. "This is so dumb! We promised we'd be together!"

"I wish it didn't have to be this way," Todoroki said, his voice barely above a whisper. "But even if I'm not here, that promise still stands."

Bakugou's heart ached, the thought of losing his friend crushing him. "You're not allowed to go! We're supposed to grow up together and be heroes!"

Todoroki's gaze met Bakugou's, filled with a mix of sadness and determination. "I'm sorry."

Bakugou's chest tightened, his fiery spirit clashing with the cold reality of the situation. "I don't care about promises if you're not here!" he shouted, his voice trembling.

Todoroki stood up; his face serious. "You will be the strongest hero, Bakugou. I believe in you. But you must promise me something too."

"What?" Bakugou demanded, wiping away the unexpected sting of tears threatening to fall.

"Promise me you won't give up. Promise me you'll be number one, no matter what."

Bakugou hesitated for a moment, the weight of Todoroki's words sinking in. "Fine! I promise," he grumbled, a mixture of determination and sadness filling his voice. "But only if you promise to keep training and become a great hero too!"

"Deal," Todoroki replied, a small smile breaking through his somber expression.

In that moment, the playground faded away, and it was just the two of them—friends, partners, and dreamers caught in an unbreakable promise. They stood there for a while, letting the reality of the moment sink in, neither of them knowing how to say goodbye.

As the week progressed, the news of Todoroki's move became more real. The last day of kindergarten arrived, and the atmosphere was charged with bittersweet emotions.

"Hey," Bakugou called out, stepping closer to his friend. "You better not forget me, got it?"

"Of course," Todoroki assured him, his eyes shining with unspoken feelings. "You're my best friend, Bakugou. Nothing can change that."

They stood together for a moment; words unspoken but understood. The noise of the classroom faded into the background, and the world around them seemed to blur.

As the final bell rang, signalling the end of their time together, Bakugou felt an overwhelming urge to say something more. "You know... I'm really gonna miss you, icy-hot."

Todoroki's gaze softened. "I'll miss you too, Bakugou."

With that, Todoroki stepped back, his bag slung over his shoulder, ready to leave the place that had been his favourite place that he shared with his favourite person. Bakugou clenched his fists, fighting against the emotions swirling within him.

"Hey!" he called out one last time, his voice rising above the noise. "You better come back someday!"

"I will!" Todoroki replied, his smile radiating warmth. "I promise!"

As Todoroki walked away, Bakugou stood frozen, feeling the weight of their unplanned farewell settle heavily on his heart. It felt as though a part of him was leaving with Todoroki. But deep down, he held onto their promise, vowing that this wouldn't be the end.

And as he watched his friend disappear from the view, he couldn't shake the feeling that someday, their paths would cross again.
