Trese Anaya's Point of View
The event last week came to a successful close, and what happened that afternoon turned out to be memorable and something new for me. I sang a classic song that I knew everyone, young or old, would appreciate—*Close to You* by The Carpenters. If I were to rate my experience that day, it’s a ten out of ten, and honestly, I’d do it again if I had the time.
Now—I'm with Kasha and Yukio, and we’re planning a sleepover at Kasha’s new penthouse. It’s Friday night, so we have all the time to relax and have fun. We just finished our last class for the day, and since we all share the same schedule, kaya we are all toghether and bound to be a fun evening together.
We were walking to the parking lot when we noticed it was raining hard outside.
"Shocks! Sa open parking lot ako nag-park," Kasha exclaimed, already looking distressed at the thought of having to walk through the rain.
In our school, we have two kinds of parking lots—one on the roof deck, which has no shed, and one in the basement, which is covered. But since the basement parking is always full, we sometimes have no choice but to park on the roof deck.
"Kash, naman!" Yukio groaned, clearly not thrilled.
We had planned to take just one car to Kasha's penthouse, but it seemed like that plan was falling apart.
"I can offer my car, but I parked on the roof deck, too," I said, trying to be helpful but knowing it wasn’t much of a solution.
"I didn’t bring my car. Grounded ako, remember?" Yukio reminded us, adding to our dilemma.
I remembered Diego, our other friend, who was supposed to join us. "Si Diego, diba sasama siya? He said he'd meet us at the penthouse later, right?" I asked.
"Yeah, pero may emergency siya," Kasha replied, clearly resigned to the situation. "We have no choice. I have an umbrella." She pulled it out of her bag, surprising both Yukio and me.
Apparently, Yukio had also brought an umbrella, which caught us off guard.
"What? I'm also efficient, you know," Yukio smirked, probably noticing our disbelief.
"Efficient, pero not responsible enough kaya na-grounded," I teased him.
"Ang dami mong sinasabi. May payong ka ba? Wala, diba?" Yukio fired back, clearly amused at my lack of preparedness. I rolled my eyes, but he wasn’t wrong.
In the end, the three of us decided to squeeze under the two umbrellas, which were large enough to keep us dry. As we walked outside, the rain poured harder. We were heading toward Kasha’s car, but something—or rather someone—caught my eye.
It was Miss Everette, standing under another doorway, looking out at the rain. She seemed frustrated, probably because of the downpour. Maybe she had also parked on the roof deck and was stuck here, like us.
"Oh, ayon!" Yukio called out as we spotted Kasha’s car.
"Okay, let’s go! Hey, Trese, are you okay?" Kasha asked, nudging me when she noticed I was staring at Miss Everette.
"Yeah, sorry… Are we going?" I asked, snapping out of my thoughts.
Kasha followed my gaze. "It's Miss Everette..." she muttered.
"She parked here? I thought professors weren’t allowed to park in the roof deck," Yukio said.
"Yeah, just like how students aren’t allowed to park in the basement, but you still do," I quipped, making Yukio chuckle.
