Trese Anaya's Point of View

We did the usual rounds, checking all the wires and amps to ensure everything was in place. Hindi lang kasi bagong setlist ang dala namin ngayon—this gig was different. We were performing at a new resto-bar owned by Dale's brother. It was their soft opening, and we were invited to be the main act. The vibe was exciting, new, and a little nerve-wracking kasi may mga bago rin kaming audience.

"Buti naman, bati na kayo?" Fonso asked, taking a long sip from his free canned beer. He was perched on one of the amps, looking at Praise who was tuning her drums.

"Yeah..." Praise answered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Sound check pa lang, Fonso, ilang beer na naman natagay mo?" I said, playfully chastising him like a mother would.

"Eh, beer lang 'to," he shrugged, looking unusually. He wasn't his usual loud, carefree self, and I couldn't help but hype him up.

The place started filling up, and guests slowly arrived as we prepped for the show.  I put on my in-ear monitors, checking myself before stepping on stage. While adjusting my composure on the stage, my eyes scanned the growing crowd, searching for someone. Hinahanap ko siya—si Lenore. But I couldn't find her.

"She's gonna be there, don't worry," Praise reassured me, giving me a knowing look before settling behind her drum kit.

I smiled weakly, not entirely convinced, and strummed my guitar to ensure everything sounded right. Dale did the same with his bass, and once we were all set,  I stepped toward the mic. I was tasked to do the intro.

I'm the lead guitarist and leader of the band I also do vocals sometimes pag gusto ko yung kanta but kadalasan nagging backup vocals na lang ni fonso. Dale is on bass, Praise is on drums, and Fonso handles rhythm guitar and vocals.

"What's up! I'm Trese, and we are The Coast!" I began, pero hindi ko matuloy-tuloy ang sasabihin ko. My eyes were still searching... still hoping to catch a glimpse of her. "This first song...It's a song by Rico Blanco," I finally said, trying to regain my composure. "And I know some of you know this one. It's a song I will sing tonight... for someone very special." Just then, I spotted her. Lenore, standing at the back, her eyes locked onto mine. "Dedicated to the person who makes me want to write love songs in the middle of a storm."

The crowd cheered as I strummed the opening chords to "Your Universe by Rico Blanco." From the first note, the energy was electric. The whole band was on fire, passing our energy back and forth, feeding off the crowd's excitement. But through it all, my focus never wavered from her. Lenore. Her presence anchored me and made me feel invincible.

Tell me something
When the rain falls on my face
How do you quickly replace it with
A golden summer smile?

During the entire performance, I couldn't take my eyes off her. Every strum of my guitar, every note I sang—it was all for her. The energy between the band was electric. We fed off each other's vibe, passing it around like a spark that wouldn't die out. Nung sinabayan ako ni Fonso sa pag kanta, don mas lalong nadama ng lahat ang kanta.
