Elias Drahomines And The Soul Scythe: Beginning My New Life

Chapter 4

   School is a wonderful place. Of course, that is a very objective opinion. Many people instead harbor a powerful hatred for going to school, usually for good reasons. In many of my lives, school was pretty terrible, mainly because my opinions and beliefs can change with every life. Dreamer called it Psychological Re-engineering. As our lives define who we are, the Voids, or Free-Willers as I had begun to call them to avoid the clear association, the author had to literally experiment with the "Nature vs Nurture" argument. Before the cycles began, the Author experimented with many variables to make the cycle perfect. One such experiment was having to decide whether to let Free-Willers be the same in every life, or give them a controlled age regression to allow them to live full lives. The Author didn't tell people much, and I've never met him, but it was theorized by Dreamer, who had asked about the experiment, that those failed cycles were sent back home with their memories wiped. I wouldn't know though.

   Now, why is this relevant? Well, I'll tell you. I am not a coward, not as Excalibur anyway. As the full form of Excalibur, I am almost fearless and am intelligent beyond the likes of scientists such as Albert Einstein, and even philosophers and ancient storytellers like Socrates or Homer. Not the Homer you're thinking of, the one who wrote the Odyssey.

   My point is, as Elias Drahomines, I felt more fear than I would as Excalibur. Not illogical fear, just more. One such example was when I was 14, honestly the truer start to our story.

   I had been in Multarex for 9 years, with 8 more to go. Graduation age for the Infinexus is 22. In the long time, I had made a couple of friends and enemies, I had some favorite teacher's too. For a society like the Infinexus one, the school system was very different, but also pretty familiar, to what I'd been used to in past lives. There were specific combat classes that took the place of History and Social Studies. Any and all written records of Infinexus history were archived in every library, why teach what anyone can just pick up.

   I, being a Drahomines and having a surprising amount of magical capability, had Ultimate Combat. Even though I was pretty close to being a plain human, I had the evolutional capability to use the magics of other worlds, an uncommon trait. My teacher in Ultimate Combat was Alexandria Burr, the Make-Shifter daughter of Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Make-Shifts are like hybrid clones of Infinexus couples who really want children.

   Alexandria could use almost 15 forms of Magic, and even had 3 separate Multiversal Physics abilities. You may not understand what those words mean, but the gist is that Alexandria had some pretty awesome abilities.

   On a particular day, we had a tournament lesson in combat. I had climbed the ranks against my 22 classmates, 2 of which were my friends. I had made it to the final round, against Mrs. Burr. Now, she could use 15 forms of magic, I could only use 3. She disobeyed the laws of physics for 3 different kinds of universes. I obeyed the laws of physics for my own original world. By my luck, those laws were a little weaker than in my first life.

   But, not a lot could save me from her. I hoped my own fighting style was good enough, but she had been watching me fight through the tournament. I wasn't stupid, I had a few moves saved, but she was pretty smart.

   My style of fighting consisted of a Techno-Magical bracelet on my right wrist, and of hand to hand combat should it be disabled. As a drahomines, puberty triggered my evolution to scales, a tail, and the whole shebang. Sadly, my doctor had given me the bad news that very morning. My peak was 20 minutes before puberty. I'd never be a full drahomines. I wasn't quite human though, I had the strength of about 1000-1100 men, the natural speed of a cheetah, and I could jump with full force to about 10 feet into the air.

   My bracelet could do many things, tied to my brain and obeyed my every direction. Here is a list of everything it does.
