Juliet's POV
A few days after our beach outing, I was sprawled out on the couch in the Common Room, my legs cradled in Sebastian's lap, as we went over the details of the ambush again. But the conversation came to a halt when we were interrupted with an ear-piercing shriek. I slowly swung my legs off Sebastian and sat up straight, turning around to see Imelda, as she came storming into the room squealing and wailing with Violet and Grace scampering behind her. The girls were attempting to console her, but their efforts seemed futile against Imelda's tantrum.
"Ugh," Ominis shot her a disdainful look.
"What the hell are you doing, you nutter?" Sebastian added, plugging his ears with his fingers dramatically. "You're going to burst our eardrums!"
Imelda slumped on the floor in the middle of the room and broke down into a blubbering mess.
"He. Dumped. M... meeee!" she sputtered out between heaving, guttural sobs.
Sebastian's face fell, he clearly felt bad for his initial reaction. I, on the other hand, couldn't really give a shit. Grace and Violet knelt down beside her rubbing her back, looking up to me with a 'what the fuck do we do?' look on their faces.
"Oh Imelda, pull yourself together," I rolled my eyes. "You two break up all the time. You'll probably get back together with him tomorrow."
"Jules, c'mon, it looks like she's been through a lot," Sebastian whispered to me.
"... of dick," I whispered back cleverly. He wasn't amused.
"Not this time," Imelda wailed obliviously. "He said this is it, this is the end. He's been wanting this for months. He said he doesn't want to waste any more time with me, and that I'm just holding him back," she sniffled and rubbed her eyes as she looked up at me. "He said we are never getting back together... And it was just three days before our second-year anniversary!" she began crying dramatically again.
"I think maybe you just need to get a thicker skin," I shrugged unapologetically. I caught Sebastian shaking his head in disbelief out of the corner of my eye. Ominis clapped his hand to his forehead. The girls looked up at me in shock. And Imelda looked like she wanted to murder me. "Imelda, you cheated on him all the time," I continued, frustration seeping out in my tone. "And you treat him like shit. What did you think was going to happen?"
She screamed angrily and stood up, balling her fists at her side, her eyes narrowing in anger and spite. "Listen here, skank," her voice dripped with venom as she took a menacing step toward me. I stood up from the couch and faced her, my lips sucked into a thin line as I knew I was about to cop an earful. "Garreth told me about your little Halloween kiss last year. And what followed." My heart dropped to my stomach. "Yeah, that's right. It all came out tonight. He confessed to a lot."
Shit. I knew exactly what she was referring to. I hadn't told anybody about what happened with Garreth after Halloween...
*FIFTH YEAR*
Confused by her emotions – humiliation from kissing Garreth on Halloween and being rejected, and then regret when she saw how much she'd hurt Sebastian – Juliet was overcome with angry tears as she hastily made her way out of the castle, wanting to get out of there to clear her head. But before she made it out, she bumped into something solid.
"Woah! Oh hey, Juliet! What's... oh, Merlin, what's wrong?" Garreth grabbed a hold of Juliet's shoulders after she had bowled headfirst into his chest. She broke down sobbing in his arms. "Oh no! Come with me, let's go somewhere private," he said softly, looking around as he wrapped his arm around Juliet and guided her to sit down on a bench.
