Juliet's POV
It took me a few weeks to calm down after everything with Sebastian. I was still a bit sore about it, but my anger had subsided. Especially after he actually gave me some space. That was probably the most respectful and least selfish thing he's ever done.
I decided I would start talking to him again after a particular conversation I had with Sacharissa Tugwood, a stuck-up Hufflepuff bimbo I knew Sebastian had once slept with. She accosted me in the halls on my way to Herbology class one morning.
"Did you know Sallow has a girlfriend?" she goaded me.
"What makes you think that?" I looked up, sounding more worried than I wished.
"Well, I assume he does. Since he has stopped chasing you. I can't say I'm surprised he gave up, though. You're not really his type."
"Girl is his type," I spat.
"He's totally gorgeous," she prattled on obliviously. "I'd ask him out myself, but, I don't want to. He's clearly into someone else. Like I care," she said, obviously caring by the tone of her voice. "Anyway, don't waste your time."
"Wasn't planning on it," I said nonchalantly, as Sacharissa sauntered off.
"Jules... hi," a familiar voice made my heart skip a beat.
I looked up and locked eyes with Sebastian, who seemed to have appeared out of thin air. Lately, he had been looking like a sad little puppy dog, but this morning, there was some kind of newfound determination shining in his eyes. "Can I walk you to class?" he asked in his classic Sebastian-charming-Sallow voice.
"I can walk myself," I retorted swiftly.
"Great, then you can walk me too," he smiled, as he matched my pace and walked beside me.
I couldn't help the smile tugging at the corner of my lips. Sebastian's sense of humour always got me.
"Did you get my flowers?" he asked.
"Yeah... I did. I sent them up to the Hospital Wing. Nurse Blainey was very appreciative," I confessed.
I didn't want to be surrounded by constant reminders of Sebastian's fuck-up.
A couple of younger girls who were walking behind us must have been eavesdropping on our conversation, as I heard -
"I can't believe her! If Sebastian Sallow sent me flowers, I'd go out with him in a heartbeat."
"If Sebastian Sallow gave me gum, I'd have his baby."
It was kind of cute how the girls at school fell over themselves for Sebastian, and he was still chasing me. I suppose I did look crazy pushing him away. Maybe news about the whole 'bet' thing didn't spread around the whole school like I thought it would?
A smug look spread across his face from hearing the conversation happening behind us.
"What did Sacharissa want?" he asked me, trying to sound casual but failing miserably.
"Oh, she was just telling me about your new girlfriend," I also tried to say casually... also failing miserably.
"Girlfriend?" he scoffed. "Cool... news to me. Who's the lucky lady, I wonder?"
I shrugged, not able to make eye contact with him. I couldn't even joke about this with him.
"Sooo, got any plans this weekend?" he changed the subject.
"Yeah, I have a thing with Poppy on Saturday."
"A thing?" he raised an eyebrow.
"I'm busy," I said bluntly.
