how some more threats were spoken...

P.T.

Snape answered my letter right the next day. And he wanted to meet me in two, so I was waiting for him on Monday.

Or better, Monday afternoon. Father would most likely go hunting in the night, but during the day it was way to bright outside. In the afternoon, clouds would darker the woods at least a little bit.

But right know, it was only ten in the morning.

I had taken Valery downstairs to the dining hall with me, to get some breakfast in both of us. Well, breakfast was an exaggeration. It was more about getting any kind of food into our almost empty stomachs.

Father and Marcus fed only of meat, both human and animal. But Jane... Jane was just normal. So, there was indeed normal food in the house. The only problem was: It wasn't much. And it was weird, especially for Valery.

Have you ever tried feeding filled wine leaves to an eleven-year-old? Or those fancy little paprikas with truffle and oil? Not gonna lie, I didn't even like that.

Finally, I found some eggs I could fry in the pan, along with some simple bread and a rather tired and old looking pack of tomatoes. But that was fine, and still eatable.

The good smell of eggs and bread was weak against the strong smell of blood and death in this house, but it did help a little. The quiet sizzling of the pan and Valery's soft giggles, almost made the room bright and happy.

While we were eating, I tried to ignore the shouts coming from some rooms away. Father and Jane were arguing, but the castle was big. They could have been basically everywhere, if they just yelled loud enough.

I knew why they were fighting. Father didn't want to bring me along to the meeting at Malfoy Manor in six days. Jane was trying to convince him, that it would only benefit them. She would have been right, of course. The fact that I was dating Mattheo would've made father and her look quite good in front of Tom Riddle. Would've, if I hadn't lied to him.

Mattheo was surely absolutely hating me by now. As soon as he found out, that I lied to him all year long. And I couldn't even blame him, because I'd hate me too.

,,But if you all go there, where will I go?" Valery asked, after I had explained to her, why father and Jane were fighting.

,,I've been thinking about this a lot, actually." I gave back, taking a bite of my bread. ,,Do you remember my best friend, Luna?"

Valery nodded. Yeah, I had told her about Luna every summer.

,,Maybe, if her father agrees, you could stay with them. And if not... I have another friend, her name in Pansy. But I actually don't know where she lives..."

Tilting her head, Valery looked up at me, chewing on her fried egg. ,,You don't know where to bring me, do you?" she asked quietly.

Sighing deeply, I reached over the table to take her little hand in mine. ,,Listen, Val. The only thing I want, is for you to be safe while we're gone. I can't bring you along, that's impossible. But if you stay with Luna, everything will be alright, okay?"

,,Okay..." Valery muttered, but she didn't sound very convinced.

As I was about to cheer her up some more, an even louder shout echoed through the castle.

,,Phersephone!" The unmistakable voice of Fenrir Greyback. ,,Phersephone, move your pathetic  ass down here! Someone wants to see you!"

Valery looked up, her eyes wide in fear.

,,It's okay." I quickly said, trying to mask my own nervousness as I stood up. ,,Just take your food, go to my room, and lock the door. I promise, I'll come back."
