P.T.
,,Where on earth did you get that? I don't even like coffee."
Mattheo shrugged, handing me one of the cups in his hands. ,,I know. That's why I brought you some tea, love."
Smiling tiredly, I took the hot cup of tea and warmed my hands up with it. ,,Thank you, my dear."
He yawned and sat next to me again, leaning back against the wall and grabbing some of the blanket, sipping from his own cup.
Leaning my head against his shoulder, I watched the sun rise at the horizon.
,,How late is it?" I asked, looking up at Mattheo.
His eyes met mine, full of something I suppose was... empathy? No. It was something more intense. Longing?
,,Shortly after six." Mattheo muttered, quickly pressing a kiss to my forehead.
,,Huh..." I took a sip of my tea. That was actually... not as bad. Although we spent the night here, on top of the astronomy tower, we had gotten about eight hours of sleep.
Was it because of Mattheo, possibly?
,,Riddle?"
,,Hm?" He looked up from his cup of coffee, looking at me over the rim.
,,Do you think, that... I mean, you and me, we're... like..." I sighed heavily. ,,What the fuck? I can't even talk anymore, Merlin..."
Mattheo chuckled, putting one arm around my shoulders. ,,Take your time, love."
Taking a deep breath, I sat up straight. ,,We don't hate each other anymore, do we?"
He raised his eyebrows at me. ,,Uh... are you being for real right now?"
Rolling my eyes, I tried again. ,,Okay, that was stupid. Let me... Okay."
Turning around to look at him, I held onto my cup of tea. ,,Would you say... would you say that we're friends?"
,,Friends?" Mattheo asked back, raising his eyebrows even higher. ,,Friends, really?"
I nodded hesitantly. ,,Yeah, I mean, we clearly don't hate each other anymore, and we're helping each other out, so... I'd say we're friends, right? We share a passion for a sport, and a friend group. We study together, go to parties together, sneak around the castle at night together..."
Mattheo looked away, chuckling darkly. ,,And we're dating..."
,,Fake dating, yeah. That's what I meant with helping each other."
,,Okay..." He nodded slowly, taking another sip of his coffee. ,,And that's 'friends' to you?"
I shrugged nervously. ,,Is it... not?"
He sighed quietly, putting his now empty cup on the floor next to us. ,,I don't know. You tell me, Thorne. Are we friends?"
As he caught my gaze, I held it and looked up at him. ,,I don't know, Mattheo... I don't know."
,,But I do..." he muttered, taking my cup out of my hand and placing it next to his. ,,Don't kill me now, but I think... I think we're something more. More than just... friends."
Nodding slowly, I fiddled with my fingers nervously. ,,Are you sure?"
Mattheo crossed his arms in front of his chest, looking back at the sunrise. ,,Oh, absolutely. You know, Phersephone, I don't trust people easily. And with that I mean, I don't trust anyone, besides my closest friends. But, for some strange reason I can't quite name, I seem to trust you. I trust you more than anybody else..."
